Buy and Sell: Week 3

Players to buy and sell ahead of Week 3 action!

Week 2’s injuries felt never ending, but we can put that behind us and look ahead to a hopefully healthier Week 3.  While it’s still extremely early, we at least have a snapshot of how our teams are stacking up with our leaguemates.  Week 2 saw some usual suspects at the top of the leaderboard, with Josh Allen and Jaxon Smith-Njigba continuing to defy logic.   On the flip side,  Bears Tight End Colston Loveland somehow has 30 less fantasy points than Bengals Kicker Evan McPherson going into Week 3, something that seemed unimaginable just a few weeks ago.  Whether things look great at 2-0, a desperate win is needed this week to avoid 0-3, or it’s a bit of a mixed bag if you’re 1-1, these buy and sell targets can help your team regardless.

BUY

Drake London (WR-ATL)

Week 2: 5 Targets, 4 Receptions, 51 Yards

This feels like one of the easier and more obvious buy opportunities of the season.  Drake London’s pedestrian start to the season can almost certainly be tied to poor quarterback play from Cooper Rush, but help looks to be on the way with Michael Penix Jr. set to start in Week 3 against the Packers.  Since the start of 2024, London has averaged 0.63 PPR points per route run and 2.99 yards per route run with Penix at the helm, according to JJ Zachariason of lateround.com.  He also noted Penix has targeted London on over 33% of his routes.  Penix knows where his bread is buttered, and that’s getting the rock to his best target, Drake London.  The former 2022 first-round pick also averaged almost 20 fantasy points per game in 2025 with Penix under center, leading up to London injuring his PCL, according to Pro Football Network.

London’s value may never be lower than it is right now this season, or even beyond.  The Falcons offense has been so non-functional that London can’t even overcome it, which hasn’t been the case in the past.  He’s never had truly elite quarterback play, but has still finished in the top 15 in fantasy points per game the last two seasons.  An 0-2 team with Drake London could panic sell him to try to re-shape their lineup, so if the Drake London team in your league has gotten off to a bad start, it’s definitely worth a shot to see if you can take him off their hands.

Now, there might not be an immediate return on your investment.  The Falcons are in Lambeau on a short week Thursday night, a bit of a tough spot for Penix’s first outing of the season.  Things might not automatically go back to normal between Penix and London, but if that’s the case, London may even be a better buy-low candidate next week, and none of the previous points I made would be invalid if things don’t go great in Week 3.  If they do, then you hopefully took advantage of a great buying opportunity for one of the most talented receivers in the NFL, because in that case the buying window is probably closed.

Upcoming schedule: @ Packers, @ Saints MNF, vs Ravens, vs Bears, vs 49ers

Breece Hall (RB-NYJ)

Week 2: 16 carries, 29 rushing yards, 5 targets, 5 receptions, 63 receiving yards

Averaging less than two yards per carry looks brutal on paper, and it is.  Thankfully, Breece Hall’s fantasy day in Week 2 was saved by his work in the passing game, but if the Hall manager in your league is worried about the rushing metrics, it could be a good opportunity to see if you can get him via trade.  The schedule for Hall is also looking good at least over the next two weeks, with the Lions and Bears on the docket for Weeks 3 and 4.  Chicago and Detroit give up the 10th and 11th-most PPR points respectively to running backs so far this season, according to fftoday.com.

The Lions will also likely force the Jets to push the pace to keep up with the explosive Detroit offense, potentially giving Hall plenty of opportunities in the passing game to make an impact.  Week 3 probably won’t be a grind-it-out type of affair, but Hall is one of the Jets’ most talented players, and to try to match the Lions, they need the ball in the hands of one of their best playmakers.

The Jets have also heavily invested in their offensive line in recent years, making the poor rushing metrics in Week 2 possibly more of an outlier than what we can expect from Hall on the ground.

Upcoming Schedule: @ Lions, @ Bears, vs Browns, @ Patriots, vs Dolphins

Tucker Kraft (TE-GB)

Week 2: 3 targets, 2 receptions, 15 yards

Kraft had a quiet Sunday at rainy MetLife Stadium against the Jets, which is exactly why we want to buy him now.  When you look at the under-the-hood metrics,  things are a bit more encouraging for Kraft.  The recently paid Tight End played 98.3% of the snaps in Week 2 and had a 93.8% route participation, according to PFF.  His snap rate and route participation were up from Week 1, when it seemed like he was on more of a snap count, but that appears to be over already.  If Kraft hovers around 90% route participation most weeks, I’ll take my chances on Kraft producing for fantasy managers more often than not.

To make things even more interesting, WR Jayden Reed may have a serious back ailment.  It’s unclear how long he’ll be out for, but his absence opens up even less competition for targets than there already was.  The Packers offense was starting to be much more consolidated than in years past, and it looks like that will only increase if Reed is sidelined.

The Kraft manager in your league may have paired him with another Tight End in the draft with the uncertainty surrounding how he’ll return from the torn ACL.  If that’s the case in your league, it’s worth a shot to see if you can buy low on Kraft before he has an inevitable explosion week, especially if that manager drafted Kraft with Dalton Kincaid or George Kittle, two guys who had big Week 2s.  They may think Kraft is expendable, and after a disappointing outing this past week, his value may never be lower than it is now.  Jump on him before it’s too late.  Also, check out their schedule below.  If Caleb Williams is back for the Bears in Week 5 against the Packers, Weeks 5-7 are games against explosive offenses that likely will force Jordan Love and the Packers offense to throw all over the yard.  With the uncertainty surrounding Jayden Reed‘s injury, and the already reduced competition among pass catchers for Kraft, it could be a perfect storm for him ro come up big for fantasy managers.

Upcoming Schedule: vs Falcons, @ Buccaneers, vs Bears, vs Cowboys, @ Lions

SELL

Omarion Hampton (RB-LAC)

Week 2: 23 carries, 94 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 2 targets, 2 receptions, 21 yards, 1 fumble lost

17.5 PPR points and an overall RB7 finish in Week 2 look pretty good for Hampton, especially considering how bad things have started overall for the Chargers.  He really was one of the few bright spots in a second consecutive disappointing loss for the Harbaugh-led squad.  When you look a bit further into Hampton, however, there’s reason to think selling Hampton now is the right move.  First, the Chargers offensive line, particularly the interior linemen, have really struggled.  On rushes to the inside, Chargers running backs have had the fourth-worst yards before contact per attempt so far this season. They’re just 23rd in the league on outside rushes, so the offensive line as a whole is a concern.

The first two weeks of the season for the Chargers were supposed to be soft opponents, but instead they’re 0-2 after losses to the Cardinals and Raiders.  Their upcoming schedule is anything but soft, with opponents that include the Bills, Broncos,  Seahawks, Rams, and Ravens.  Zachariason noted that when the Chargers are losing by seven or more points, Hampton has just played 50% of the snaps this season.  He’s also been barely utilized in the passing game, having just accumulated two targets over the first two games, along with a route share of less than 30%.   Unless things change quickly for the Chargers, trailing game scripts seem to be in their future, and that doesn’t bode well for Hampton.

The second-year back has also fumbled in each of the first two games this season, with Hampton putting the ball on the ground at an inopportune time against the Raiders.  How long will  Head Coach Jim Harbaugh stand for such behavior?  I say that somewhat jokingly, but I can’t imagine Harbaugh feels like he can trust Hampton with the ball in his hands.

An additional concern for Hampton was brought up by Fantasypoints.com film expert Brett Whitefield related to Hampton’s fit in offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel’s offense.  On outside zone runs, which encompassed over 50% of Hampton’s carries on Sunday, according to Whitefield, Hampton averaged around 3 yards per carry.  On more downhill runs, he’s much more effective, but unless McDaniel changes up his run concepts, Hampton doesn’t appear to be the perfect back for McDaniel’s run game to produce at the highest level.  See what you can get for Hampton before the schedule toughens up and while Hampton is coming off a strong fantasy performance.

Upcoming schedule: @ Bills, @ Seahawks, vs Broncos, @ Chiefs, vs Rams

Jake Ferguson (TE-DAL)

Week 2: 4 targets, 4 receptions, 43 yards, 2 touchdowns

Similar to buying Drake London, selling Jake Ferguson is one of the easier sell opportunities this season.  Sure, he had exceeded 20 PPR points in Week 2, but that’s much more likely to be a fluke than what the expectation should be going forward.  Two touchdowns on four targets may not repeat itself the rest of the season, let alone this week.  The Commanders, who the Cowboys played in Week 2, also give up the second-most PPR fantasy points to Tight Ends so far this season, according to footballdatabase.com. Between facing Dallas Goedert in Week 1 and Ferguson last week, they’ve been bleeding out fantasy points to Tight Ends.  However, Dallas’ Week 3 opponent, the Baltimore Ravens, are in the middle of the pack through two weeks in terms of their fantasy points allowed to Tight Ends.   It’s not a cakewalk opponent in Week 4 either, as they travel to Houston, who are also middle of the road regarding their fantasy points allowed to Tight Ends.

Ferguson’s path to targets is also difficult, as CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens will continue to be the focal point of the passing game.  We prefer our Tight Ends to be one of the top two targets in their respective offenses to be consistent fantasy producers, and that likely won’t be the case for the former Wisconsin Badger.  The Colston Loveland manager in your league may be starting to panic after his 1.3 PPR points in the first two games.  If you’re able to flip Ferguson for Loveland (especially if you drafted another Tight End with Ferguson), or you can sell Ferguson to strengthen another position on your team, this is the week to do it.  There’s a good chance you didn’t go into the season with just Ferguson as your Tight End, so if that’s you and you have some insurance at that position, take advantage of Ferguson’s big week against one of the most attractive matchups for Tight Ends and sell him high.

Upcoming schedule: vs Ravens (Rio), @ Texans, vs Buccaneers, @ Packers, @ Eagles

Stefon Diggs (WR-WAS)

Week 2: 6 targets, 5 receptions, 47 yards, 2 touchdowns

In that same Commanders-Cowboys game, WR Stefon Diggs found himself in the end zone twice, just like Jake Ferguson.  And just like Jake Ferguson, we’re going to sell him high while we can.  Diggs snagged two touchdowns on six targets, not something we can expect or rely on happening again.  He also faces the Seahawks in Week 3, who give up the second-fewest PPR fantasy points to Wide Receivers over the first two weeks, according to the Football Database.

Diggs’ playing time is also a concern.  He’s been on the field for just 63% and 51% of the snaps over the course of the first two weeks, usage not likely to yield consistent and productive fantasy results.   Quarterback  Jayden Daniels suffered another dislocated elbow in Week 2 against the Cowboys, the same injury he dealt with in 2025, and may miss extended time.  Backup Marcus Mariota is capable, but of course it’s a downgrade from playing with Daniels.  Between the concerning snap share and the questionable quarterback play, now is the time to capitalize on trading Diggs after he found paydirt twice in Week 2.

Upcoming schedule: vs. Seahawks, vs. Colts (London), vs. Giants, @ 49ers, BYE in Week 7, vs. Eagles
