Game Previews: All Fantasy Relevant Players For Week 6

Our QB List writers preview all the fantasy-relevant things to watch for in Week 6.

Jaguars vs. Cowboys

Jaguars

Will Bortles Bortle Through Another Game

Blake Bortles isn’t particularly good at being a quarterback, but he is excellent at accumulating statistics. Dallas has been decent defensively, despite not forcing many turnovers. It is entirely possible that by virtue of facing Blake Bortles, Dallas will see a distinct uptick in turnovers. However, given the woes of the Dallas offense, it’s entirely possible that Bortles isn’t asked to throw much, given a close game. If that is the case, don’t expect Keelan Cole, Donte Moncrief, or Dede Westbrook to see many targets. Without many targets to go around, the only wide receiver I would trust during this week is Westbrook, since he is the receiver most likely to turn a short pass into a long gain.

Expect Yeldon to be in the Middle of it All

Based on recent history, Dallas won’t put up many points this week. That means that Jacksonville will be able to keep the ball on the ground, in the hands of T.J. Yeldon. Yeldon is seeing nearly 70% of the Jacksonville snaps this season, even when you include Leonard Fournette’s two “healthy” games. Expect to see Yeldon shoulder most of the offensive load for the Jaguars, though don’t be too surprised to see him spelled by Jamaal Charles only days after signing with the team.

Return to Form for the Defense

It’s been mentioned several times in this section, but Dallas has been sputtering on offense all season long. The Jaguars defense hasn’t been the stud that we all expected coming into the season, but don’t mistake the fact that they have been good. An unimaginative Cowboys offense is just what the doctor ordered, so expect the tour de force for the 2018 defense this week.

BOOM: TJ Yeldon

BUST: Donte Moncrief and Keelan Cole

SLEEPER: Dede Westbrook

Cowboys

Heading into Week 6, it’s hard to believe that the Cowboys are 2-3 and squarely in the hunt for the NFC East. Anyone who has been watching this team knows that the Cowboys have struggled on offense and surprise on defense. This is the new Cowboys team and if the Cowboys are to survive they must embrace the new norm and attempt to survive in a wide open NFC. This week the Cowboys host the 3-2 Jacksonville Jaguars, first in the AFC South.

Is Dak Prescott a streaming optins for fantasy owners this week?

Absolutely not, this may be the toughest matchup he’s faced this season. The Jags have only allowed 12 points a game to opposing fantasy QBs, an incredible stat in the current NFL. With a pair of shutdown corners, solid safties and linebackers that can cover the field the Cowboys anemic pass offense won’t get on track this week. Dak belongs on the fantasy football waiver wire until things change.

What can we expect from Cowboys star running back Zeke Elliott this week?

As strong as the Jaguars defense has been they have struggled against running backs, giving up more than 100 yards a game on the ground with three rushing touchdowns. If the Cowboys hope to win on Sunday Zeke must be involved. We cannot sit Zeke and the Cowboys will feed Zeke early and often.

Any fantasy trends we can mine from the Cowboys receiver corps?

One thing is clear with this receiver group, and that is that nothng is clear. Right no the primary receiver is RB Ezekiel Elliott. Outside of the teams star running back, snap counts haven’t told us anything in the last two weeks. Just when we thought WR Michael Gallup earned a starting role on this squad he only played in 39% of the snaps in Week 5. It was WR Deonte Thompson who saw the field the majority of the teams’ snaps and he wasn’t very productive, only grabbing 2 catches for 19 yards. Look elsewhere this week for fantasy production.
