QB Streamers to Add for Week 4

The return of the fantasy-relevant quarterbacks in Week 3 gives us hope for the weeks ahead

Every week we bring you our advice on which signal-callers have the potential to help your fantasy teams win. We will take into account recent performances, the quarterbacks’ supporting cast, the matchup, and add some smart statistical insights to offer you the clearest picture of which QB to pick up from your waiver wire.

Week 3 was more like it! After an underwhelming couple of weeks from a fantasy perspective, QBs bounced back with 10 signal-callers eclipsing the hallowed 20+ fantasy point mark to give fantasy managers (battered by injuries and underperformance) some solace. Of those 10, four were under 70% rostered and two were complete surprise revelations – 2% rostered Malik Willis and 5% rostered Andy Dalton. Who would have thought that at the start of the season!

We will only consider QBs who are less than 70% rostered in Yahoo! leagues so as to give you an honest chance at picking one up for your team’s matchup. So, with that caveat, let’s look at the lay of the land for Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season and highlight our recommendations.

QB Streamers

“Darnold Dealing”

Sam Darnold, Vikings at Packers

What else do you need to see? After a four-touchdown masterclass against the Texans, Sam Darnold has progressed from comeback player of the year to fantasy darling in the space of three brilliant performances under Kevin O’Connell‘s leadership in Minnesota. The way that Darnold executed the offense in a dominant win was not only impressive but also inspiring. Add to that the sturdy protection of a good offensive line, a creative play-caller, and a plethora of playmakers to throw to including the best wide receiver in football in Justin Jefferson, this is a no-brainer.

Yes, it’s the Packers. Yes, it’s in Green Bay. Yes, it’s a huge divisional fight. That’s what we love about starting him as a streamer. Embrace the reality.

“Earned Progress”

Justin Fields, Steelers at Colts

After two weeks of conservative, game-managing quarterback play from former Bears first-round pick Justin Fields, Week 3 showed us a more settled, adventurous and effective signal-caller who is growing by the game under Mike Tomlin‘s tutelage. Fields scored touchdowns through the air and on the ground to muster a nice 18.40 fantasy points (in Yahoo!). His burgeoning chemistry with star wideout George Pickens and his emerging connection with field-stretcher Calvin Austin III have given Steelers fans reason to feel confident going forward. At 3-0 confidence is high and Fields has earned the respect of his team. Finally, for the first time since being drafted, he’s in a position to succeed.

“Rolling Back the Years”

Aaron Rodgers, Jets vs. Broncos

A virtuoso performance from 40-year old veteran Aaron Rodgers to dismantle the Patriots defense in a blowout Jets win had fans in New York perplexed as to the feelings they were experiencing. It has been all too alien for the Jets to dominate a game like that over their division rival and Rodgers was at the heart of everything good about the performance. He threw two touchdown passes for the second week running and connected with both his favorite receivers, Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. What was more pleasing was just how comfortable Rodgers looked running the offense. It was a throwback to his prime years with the Packers. All signs point up. The Broncos are not the defense they used to be but Wilson will have to contend with Pat Surtain II. Still, we like Rodgers to keep the J-E-T-S, JETS! rolling.
