Quarterback Streamers: Week 6

Diving into three QBs to stream to help win your weekly matchup!

Welcome back to another week of QB streamers, where I highlight three signal callers with sub-70% roster rates (on Yahoo! Sports) based on a variety of different reasons — personnel, weapons, previous performances, analytics, matchups, and so on.

We saw some amazing QB duels last week. Matt Stafford-Mac Jones was a big one (and both are streamer options — see below)… Stafford’s 389 yards in the air ended up leading all of Week 5. Baker Mayfield-Sam Darnold (another streamer!) was a doozy… each QB ended up inside this week’s top five in air yards. Darnold, C.J.  Stroud, and Dak Prescott all tied for this week’s lead in touchdown passes with four apiece. Josh Allen-Drake Maye was magical, and while their box scores don’t necessarily jump off the page, each QB displayed MVP-like characteristics. I noted in my WWS article that Maye is the youngest QB to record 200+ passing yards on 75%-or-better completion in four consecutive games. Tom Brady is the other QB who did so, and he won MVP. Maye has inserted himself into the Top 5 QB conversation, in my humble opinion.

Now, let’s dive into which QBs to stream in Week 6!

Mac Jones, San Francisco Giants

Jones put on a stellar display on Thursday Night Football against the Rams, going 33-for-49 (67%), leading to a whopping 342 yards and 2 TDs plus the win. The 70.1 QBR turned in by Jones was his highest single-game mark since October of 2023. He finds himself in a peculiar situation. The starter, Brock Purdy, has been dealing with turf toe and is considered week-to-week. Can he play against Tampa? I’m not sure. If I were San Francisco, I’d be more than confident trotting out Jones, who appears to be uber comfortable in Shanahan’s offense.

The Bucs, coming off a win against Seattle, are a defense that allows a ton of points. They’ve allowed 25+ points in three straight weeks, including 35 last week, and have allowed the 9th most points per game in 2025. Not to mention, their inability to limit the passing game has been noted — they’ve allowed over 1,100 yards in the air this season. They allowed my next waiver wire pick, Sam Darnold, to throw for 341 yards last week.

Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks

@ JAX 4/5 31% 14.78

As previously mentioned, Darnold is coming off a booming performance against the Bucs last week, where he went 28-for-34 (82%) with 341 yards and 4 TDs. It was perhaps the best QB performance of the week! Darnold has been a solid contributor all year long, with the sixth-most passing yards in the NFL (1,246), T-7th most TDs (7), and 2nd-highest QBR (78.8) thus far.

Darnold is set to face the Jags this week, a team that has been really up-and-down defensively in 2025. The key here? Jacksonville is also on short rest coming off Monday Night Football. Darnold offers a low floor in terms of production, but as we saw from last week, the ceiling is high. I’m intrigued.

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

I list Stafford third here because, simply put, I don’t believe he’ll be available in a lot of quality leagues. Heading into Week 6, the 37-year-old signal caller has turned in fantastic fantasy QB production, ranking first in the NFL in passing yards (1.503), second in TDs (11), and seventh in passer rating (107.3).

Stafford faces off against the Ravens this weekend, a team that allowed C.J. Stroud to drop over forty points (both in fantasy and in general) last week. His final line: 23-for-27, 244 yards, 4 TDs, 44 points. Baltimore has allowed the second-most yards per game in the NFL, and a lot of that has come via the air — a whopping 1,313 passing yards allowed also ranks second in the NFL. Not to mention, the Ravens are allowing over 35 points per game (177 total)… by far and away the worst mark in the NFL. This is a good matchup for any quarterback, really, but an even better one for Stafford and his Rams.

That’s it for this week! If there are any questions, comments, concerns, or you want to see more (MLB, NFL, etc.), feel free to hit my official Pitcher List/QB List social media up @ggeiss_PL and I’d be happy to chat!
