Minnesota Vikings

Quarterback:

  • Kirk Cousins (QB1/Start)

I almost placed Cousins on the QB2 map, but feel like the Vikings will have to throw it against the Cowboys a lot this week to have a chance after Dallas held Saquan Barkley in check last week. With only one game under 24 points since week 5, Cousins is looking like a solid start every week, even given the stinker he put up where they didn’t have to try against Washington in Week 8. Keep him locked in as one of the higher floors of the week that is heavy on bye weeks.

Running Backs:

  • Dalvin Cook (RB1/Start)
  • Alexander Mattison (Handcuff/Sit)

Dalvin Cook has had an unbelievable season, one that I am very upset about after passing on him early in the second round. He now gets Dallas that just held Barkley under 30 yards on the ground. While I expect Dalvin to fare better with more carries, I do see him getting enough work in the passing game to warrant a safe mid-RB1 floor this week. Alexander Mattison, on the other hand, is simply a bench stash at this stage of the game.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends:

  • Stefon Diggs (WR1/Start)
  • Adam Thielen (Questionable/Sit)
  • Laquon Treadwell (Flex if Thielen Sits)
  • Olabisi Johnson (Sit)
  • Kyle Rudolph (TE1/Start)

Lots of names to unpack here, but I’ll make it quick. Stefon Diggs is an obvious WR1 with upside if Adam Thielen were to sit or be limited, like last week. The expectation is that he will be in street clothes, so Diggs will be looking to bounce back from his terrible game in Kansas City. This was on the back of three stellar, high-end WR1 games. I expect more of the three-game stretch than the one game stinker in this one for Diggs. Laquon Treadwell has looked like the next man up in wake of the Thielen injury, getting several targets from Cousins and looking inspired out there. Look for him to put up around 10 fantasy PPR points which would give him a decent flex floor on a thin week. Bisi Johnson has been a hot name because of last week’s touchdown, but he only got 2 targets, hardly something to grasp at. Treadwell is their guy. Meanwhile, if Thielen plays, I’d still have him as a sit as his risk of re-injury is very, very high. Kyle Rudolph has had double-digit points in two of the last three weeks, which puts him on the TE1 map, especially on a bye week and playing a Cowboys team that is generous to the TE position. Fire him up.

Dallas Cowboys

Quarterback:

  • Dak Prescott (Start/QB1)

Dallas has leaned more heavily on Dak Prescott this year, and a big part of that was the addition of Amari Cooper last season, and the emergence of Michael Gallup as a threat this season. All of that comes together to Dak currently being the QB5 as we sit today. Minnesota has been middle of the pack in giving up the 18th most FPPG to the quarterback position. Look for Dak to build off his big game against the Giants, especially with Zeke back to full strength and averaging a healthy clip.

Running Backs:

  • Ezekiel Elliot (RB1/Start)
  • Tony Pollard (Handcuff)

Ezekiel Elliot was running like a man possessed last week, putting together 23/139/0. This was his highest yardage total of the season, but his second-lowest point total. This means good things for his owners if they survived last week, as it was a total fluke that Zeke had 0 targets and no touchdowns, as most of Dallas’ touchdowns were of the long pass variety. This week, he should be called upon to slow down the game and keep the ball from the Vikings offense, and he will assuredly find the endzone in this one. Tony Pollard is still running hard but doesn’t garner any attention, unless as a handcuff.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends:

  • Amari Cooper (WR1/Start)
  • Michael Gallup (WR3/Start)
  • Randall Cobb (WR5/Sit)
  • Jason Witten (TE1/Start)

Amari Cooper is looking like everything he should have been out of college. Big, fast, strong, and a great route-runner, Cooper is WR9 on the season. He should be targeted early and often in this one and is one of the top-5 WR plays on the week. Coming off 4/80/1 against NYG, he should once again be heavily involved, assuming his knee issue doesn’t keep him hobbled. Michael Gallup was almost a dud last week, if not for an incredibly acrobatic touchdown catch (that kept Zeke from scoring at the goal line). This week, it could be more of the same, but I expect him to have a double-digit floor that should keep him afloat. If Cooper is limited, he will be more of a WR2, but for now, keep him as a WR3 on a bye week that is brutal. Randall Cobb is a great player for the Cowboys but should be left out of lineups here, being the fourth or fifth option on the team. Jason Witten, however, has quietly put together a TE10 season so far. Fire him up as someone to keep rolling as a solid floor, no ceiling TE. And that is all you can ask for this season.

I’m faced with a must-win against the top team this week (non-PPR, no flex, start 3WR) – would I be crazy to start Jacobs over Saquon and gamble on a higher ceiling? My other RB is Cook.

  2. Danmoshpit says:

I’m having a hard time deciding on my flex and QB this week.

    For the flex It’s between
Chris Carson, Darren Waller, Allen Robinson or John brown.

QB is either Stafford or Josh Allen

  3. Scott says:

You mentioned Curtis Samuel, Larry Fitz, and Brieda all as starters.

I’m in a 12 team PPR league with 2 flex spots. If you had to choose 2, who would you roll with?
