Betting Odds: NYJ -1.5 via Oddsshark

Sleeper Spotlight: Darius Slayton

New York Giants

Quarterback:

  • Daniel Jones (Start – feasible streamer)

In typical “little brother” fashion, it’s right on cue that Daniel Jones will face off against the Jets’ Sam Darnold, who has arguably been playing the worst stretch of games in his young career. Jones hasn’t looked so great himself though. He has 10 fumbles on the year to go with eight interceptions; on Monday Night against Dallas, he lost two fumbles and had an interception. Turnovers have been Jones’ kryptonite to start his career, but I would consider him a serviceable streaming candidate this week against the woeful Jets.

Running Backs:

  • Saquon Barkley (Start, RB1)
  • Wayne Gallman (Sit)

Do you need convincing to start Saquon Barkley this week? I don’t think so. Barkley didn’t have the best game against Dallas. He only ran for 28 yards on 14 carries and caught six of eight targets for 67 yards. His fantasy night was saved with a 65-yard catch and run, which goes to show that his other five catches were all for naught. With only two rushing touchdowns on the season – missed time with the high ankle sprain – this upcoming matchup against the Jets bodes well for him to find the end zone.

Wayne Gallman, on the other hand, has lost any starting value since Barkley’s return.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends:

  • Golden Tate (Start, WR2/3)
  • Darius Slayton (Start – FLEX consideration)
  • Evan Engram (Start, TE1)
  • Sterling Shepard* (Sit)

*UPDATE- EVAN ENGRAM IS OUT

Golden Tate has been a PPR constant since debuting off suspension, and with the absence of Sterling Shepard. Since Week 5, he has had six or more targets in each game, posting double-digit points in PPR formats every week since Week 6. He’s only had one score, but as long as Shepard remains out, he’ll continue to have chances to find the end zone and rack up this steady target: reception ratio. Darius Slayton is an interesting name, and I’m anointing him my sleeper spotlight, as the Jets secondary (coughDarrylRobertscough) is a disaster at the moment. Slayton only saw four targets against Dallas but has a much favorable matchup incoming against the Jets.

Shepard went from out of the concussion protocol and practicing, to back in it and ruled inactive for MNF against Dallas. Having not played since Week 5, it’s anyone’s guess if Shepard will be deemed fit for Sunday’s game against the Jets. In reality, he should be shut down for the rest of the season, and cannot be trusted (yet) from a fantasy standpoint, even if he is active this weekend.

Evan Engram had a decent game against the Cowboys; six receptions on eight targets for 48 yards. A serviceable 11 points in full-PPR formats, Engram is on the TE1 radar against a Jets defense that just allowed Miami’s Mike Gesicki – who has been quiet all season – to catch all six of his receptions for 95 yards.

New York Jets

Quarterback:

  • Sam Darnold (Sit)

Halloween may be over, but the ‘ghosts’ still linger for Sam Darnold. He had another rough game this past Sunday in Miami; 27 of 39 for 260 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He has been under distress from bad offensive line play, but in no way is that an excuse for the inexcusable interceptions he has been throwing. This Jets offense is a mess at the moment, and Darnold should remain away from your starting lineup.

Running Backs:

  • Le’Veon Bell (Start, RB2)
  • Ty Montgomery (Sit)
  • Bilal Powell (Sit)

Finally, some signs of life for Le’Veon Bell. He didn’t find the end zone against the Dolphins, but he was able to accumulate 20.10 fantasy points (full-PPR formats). He rushed for 66 yards on 17 carries, with a side of eight receptions for 55 yards. It was his best game in recent weeks. Bell will continue to be a volume-driven presence in this offense. It is worth mentioning that he did undergo an MRI on Monday for his knee, but the latest word is that “all is good”, per Adam Schefter. Bell did not practice Wednesday but head coach Adam Gase said that “Bell could have practiced but was a little sore.”

The two to follow Bell is Ty Montgomery and Bilal Powell. Active Bell or not, I don’t suggest starting either running back. Montgomery had a strong summer and has been a non-factor all season long. Powell does not have a clear role in this offense to this point.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends:

  • Jamison Crowder (Start, WR3/FLEX)
  • Robby Anderson (Sit)
  • Ryan Griffin (Start, TE2)
  • Chris Herndon (Sit)

May the target shares be ever in your favor, Jamison Crowder. Crowder found the end zone for the first time this season against the Dolphins, and overall had himself a strong day. He caught eight of nine targets for 83 yards and a touchdown. In their five games together, Crowder has 45 targets from Darnold, and I’m looking for that number to increase against the Giants.

Robby Anderson has been a major disappointment this season. He had just two catches on four targets against the Dolphins go for 33 yards. Having only cracked the 100-yard mark once (in the Jets lone win against the Cowboys Week 6), his matchup is better this week, yet I can’t consider starting him until he proves otherwise.

Ryan Griffin saw his highest target share on the season this past week with eight. He caught six of those for 50 yards; he also had a touchdown taken away after a replay review. Griffin has been a bit of a constant in Chris Herndon’s absence and should remain in the fold against the Giants. In all reality, he’s a touchdown-dependent tight end, but the eight targets were certainly encouraging for his outlook.

Speaking of Herndon, he was active against Miami but did not see the field. In what is shaping up to truly be a lost season for the second-year TE, I would not recommend starting him until he plays and remains in the game.

I’m faced with a must-win against the top team this week (non-PPR, no flex, start 3WR) – would I be crazy to start Jacobs over Saquon and gamble on a higher ceiling? My other RB is Cook.

I’m having a hard time deciding on my flex and QB this week.

    For the flex It’s between
Chris Carson, Darren Waller, Allen Robinson or John brown.

QB is either Stafford or Josh Allen

  3. Scott says:

You mentioned Curtis Samuel, Larry Fitz, and Brieda all as starters.

I’m in a 12 team PPR league with 2 flex spots. If you had to choose 2, who would you roll with?
