Kansas City Chiefs

Quarterbacks:

  • Patrick Mahomes (Start/QB1*)
  • Matt Moore (Sit)

If Patrick Mahomes plays, you have to fire him up, but as of this writing, HC Andy Reid was non-committal on his starting quarterback. The real decision would come if Mahomes was ruled out and Matt Moore was in line for another start. While Moore has done an admirable job as a game manager for the Chiefs, that style of play doesn’t move the needle that much when it comes to fantasy upside. I’d look elsewhere if you need a quarterback this week, especially against a Titans team that likes to slow the pace down.

Running Backs:

  • Damien Williams (Start/Flex)
  • LeSean McCoy (Sit)

It only took until Week 9, but we finally saw Damien Williams reclaim the starting running back role from LeSean McCoy. Williams played on 72% of the Chiefs’ offensive snaps and handled 75% of the running back carries. I’m willing to fire Williams up as a back-end RB2 or flex option in Week 10. McCoy took a giant step back as he played on just 10% of the team’s snaps in Week 9. Darrell Williams was on the field more often than McCoy, making Shady a sit.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

  • Tyreek Hill (Start/WR1)
  • Travis Kelce (Start/TE1)
  • Sammy Watkins (Start/Flex)
  • Demarcus Robinson (Sit)
  • Mecole Hardman (Sit)

Even with Matt Moore under center, Tyreek Hill has been such a dynamic player. Since returning from a shoulder injury in Week 6, Hill has no fewer than 74 yards in each game and has found the end zone four times. He remains a WR1, regardless of who’s under center. Currently, Travis Kelce is TE2, behind just Austin Hooper, but tell that to anyone who drafted Kelce in the first round and they’d still be disappointed. Kelce’s workload has been similar to the one he saw last year, the difference is he hasn’t found the end zone as often this year. You’re still firing Kelce up as a TE1. Sammy Watkins has seen 18 targets over his last two games and he still feels like a disappointment. However, this type of workload is rare and if he keeps seeing 8+ targets per game, I’m willing to starting him as a back-end WR2 or in a flex spot. With Hill and Watkins nursed back to health, Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman have taken back seats in this offense and they can remain on the bench.

Tennessee Titans

Quarterback:

  • Ryan Tannehill (Sit)

When I think of the Titans, I immediately think of them as a run-first team. However, under Ryan Tannehill, the Titans have passed the ball at the 11th-highest rate over the last three games. Over those three games, Tannehill has finished as QB14, QB10, and QB7 in weekly scoring. The Chiefs have allowed the 10th-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this year, so if you’re in a bye week pinch, I could see rolling with Tannehill.

Running Backs:

  • Derrick Henry (Start/RB1)
  • Dion Lewis (Sit)

In PPR scoring, Derrick Henry is currently the RB9, despite catching just 11 passes this year. Now, Henry gets a matchup with the Chiefs, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to running backs. Although, they looked significantly better in Week 9 when they held Dalvin Cook to just 3.3 yards per carry. Henry’s an RB1 in all formats moving forward. Dion Lewis continues to spell Henry as the third-down back, as he saw five targets in Week 9 which tied his weekly high. Unfortunately, those targets haven’t been consistent as he saw just one target in each of the previous two games. Lewis remains a sit.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends:

  • Corey Davis (Start/Flex)
  • A.J. Brown (Start/Flex)
  • Jonnu Smith (Start/TE1*)
  • Delanie Walker
  • Adam Humphries (Sit)

Here’s a sentence I didn’t think I would be writing in 2019 – With Tannehill taking over the offense, the Titans’ passing game has become fantasy relevant. My only complaint is Tannehill has spread the ball around more than I would like. Corey Davis has seen 18 targets in Tannehill’s three starts, which ties him with A.J. Brown for the team lead in those three games. Both Brown and Davis are startable as flex plays this week. With Delanie Walker missing time to an ankle injury, Jonnu Smith has seen an uptick in workload, as he received 12 targets over the last two weeks. The Chiefs have struggled against opposing tight ends, so if Walker remains out Smith would be a back-end TE1 for me this week. However, you’ll have to keep an eye on the practice reports as Walker was eyeing a return in Week 10. Adam Humphries has seen 14 targets with Tannehill, however, with a low 7.1 aDOT, those are lower quality targets. Humphries remains a sit.

I’m faced with a must-win against the top team this week (non-PPR, no flex, start 3WR) – would I be crazy to start Jacobs over Saquon and gamble on a higher ceiling? My other RB is Cook.

I’m having a hard time deciding on my flex and QB this week.

    For the flex It’s between
Chris Carson, Darren Waller, Allen Robinson or John brown.

QB is either Stafford or Josh Allen

  3. Scott says:

You mentioned Curtis Samuel, Larry Fitz, and Brieda all as starters.

I’m in a 12 team PPR league with 2 flex spots. If you had to choose 2, who would you roll with?
