Tennessee Titans

Quarterback:

  • Ryan Tannehill (Start/QB1)

Since being inserted as the Titans starter after Week 6 Ryan Tannehill has taken off, scoring 20+ fantasy points in five straight games. While his pass volume is modest (just two 300+ yard passing games), he has accounted for multiple touchdowns in all but one game. Tannehill seems to have breathed life into this entire Titans offense and owners can trust him as a low-end starter and perhaps even saving some owners in 2QB or Superflex leagues. Start him this week against an average fantasy defense.

Running Backs:

  • Derrick Henry (Start/RB2)
  • Dion Lewis (Sit)

As mentioned, Tannehill has given life to this offense and no one has benefited more than Derrick Henry. Henry has been a Top-12 weekly running back in four of his last five games, including two straight 30 point performances. Henry is coming off back-to-back 150+ yard games with multiple touchdowns, however this week Henry faces a top-five fantasy rush defense. Henry is a must-start for owners but this week he may come back down to earth.

Bye weeks are over and fantasy owners should have the core of their teams back. Owners won’t need to scour the wire for a bye week starter and that’s a good thing for any Dion Lewis owners. Lewis has struggled all year and has just one game of 10+ fantasy points. He really should not be owned and certainly cannot be started.

Wide Receivers/ Tight Ends:

  • A.J. Brown (Start/Flex)
  • Corey Davis (Sit)
  • Adam Humphries (Sit)
  • Delaine Walker (Start/TE1)
  • Jonnu Smith (Sit)

The Colts present a positive matchup for opponents but the Titans may not have the firepower to take advantage. Since Week 8 Titans receivers have been Top-12 weekly starters just once, last week when A.J. Brown went for 135 and caught a touchdown. Brown can be started at the flex, with a high ceiling, but expect just an average flex performance.

Corey Davis has all but disappeared after a big performance in Week 7, reminding owners that he’s maddeningly inconsistent. Davis cannot be trusted as a weekly starter. The same goes for Adam Humphries who is not getting enough chances to make a difference.

Keep an eye on the injury report for the week for Delanie Walker, who hasn’t played since early in Week 7. Walker is close to returning and will be a solid option at tight end for owners down the stretch. Should he not be able to go, backup Jonnu Smith is a great replacement option if you’re desperate.

Indianapolis Colts

Quarterback:

  • Jacoby Brissett (Start/QB2)

Jacoby Brissett has been a better real-life quarterback so far than a fantasy one. In twelve games Brissett has nine Top-24 weeks but just three Top-12 weeks. Tennessee has given up at least two passing touchdowns in more than half of their games, but Brissett is only an option in 2QB or Superflex leagues despite the good matchup.

Running Backs:

  • Jonathan Williams (Start/RB2)
  • Nyheim Hines (Sit)

Running back Jonathan Williams has been a pleasant surprise for fantasy owners since Marlon Mack was injured. Williams had his second straight 100-yard rushing game, adding three catches and a touchdown in Week 12. Williams will continue to get work as he looks to have locked up the feature role until Mack returns, but the Titans present a tough matchup for the young back. The Titans have allowed just one back to rush for more than 100-yards in a game and are historically stingy in allowing touchdowns. Williams may have a down game this week but he is an every-week starter until Mack returns to complicate things.

Until the Colts begin using Nyheim Hines more he doesn’t have much fantasy value for owners. Hines has talent and juice with the ball in his hands but he’s received more than four opportunities just once in four weeks. With Williams increasing his work in the passing game, Hines cannot be trusted as a starter.

Wide Receivers/ Tight Ends:

  • T.Y. Hilton (Start/WR2)
  • Zach Pascal (Sit)
  • Jack Doyle (Start/TE1)
  • Eric Ebron (Out/IR)

T.Y. Hilton was limited in his first week back from injury in Week 12, serving as mostly a decoy against the Texans. Hilton had a bad outing, including two critical drops on tough catches. Hilton says his calf acted up during the game last week and hopes to practice this week, which isn’t a good sign. He could see a bounce-back performance if healthy, as the Titans have been up and down defending receivers this season. But his health will need to be closely monitored throughout the week.

Zach Pascal has had two big performances this season but he cannot be trusted as a weekly starter. Since Week 9, Pascal has just four catches including a shutout last week.

News broke this week that Eric Ebron is headed to injured reserve with ankle injuries and that means good things for Jack Doyle. The Colts tight end unit is third in fantasy points scored, with Ebron and Doyle splitting the opportunities. Doyle’s volume is sure to increase and he can be a difference-maker for fantasy owners heading into the fantasy playoffs. Doyle will be an every-week starter moving forward, including this week against a Titans defense that is eighth-worst defending the position.

Hey Aaron! Thanks for putting these out every week. I’m struggling to figure out which 2/3 to start out of Lockett, Carson, and Hopkins this week. Could also throw Waller or Hilton into the mix, but I don’t really think they’re in the same realm of value as the three aforementioned guys.

I’m leaning Lockett/Hopkins, even though Hopkins could toss up a donut as Amari did, Carson also doesn’t have an easy matchup and it seems like the snap count share is trending in Penny’s direction. Any thoughts?

Thanks Aaron – I look forward to your column every week. Two questions, Gordon v Ingram, and can you pick two from these three: Allen, Beckham, Robinson. thanks again!
