Betting Odds: BAL -15, 44.5 total via Oddsshark

Sleeper Spotlight: Hayden Hurst

New York Jets

Quarterback:

  • Sam Darnold (Sit)

Any Sam Darnold, the late-season streaming potential was set to come to an end anyway against Baltimore, and that remains true entering Week 15. On tap are the 11-2 Ravens on primetime Thursday Night Football. It’ll be a nice chance for Darnold to show out under the bright lights; if his offensive line and coughAdamGasecough allow him to. Though, I wouldn’t trust starting him in the semifinals.

Running Backs:

  • Le’Veon Bell (Start, RB2)
  • Ty Montgomery (Sit)

Le’Veon Bell missed last week’s win against Miami due to the flu, but then #BowlingGate happened. On Monday night, the New York Post released a story that Bell was sent home Friday due to the illness, ruled out for the game on Saturday, but was seen bowling with friends Saturday evening. It should be a non-issue in all reality, but it doesn’t bode well for him seeing as Gase has no problem game-planning without his involvement. That being said, you’ll start him because you got this far with him, but it wouldn’t shock me if he’s sadly yet again, not a focal point in this game. Look for Ty Montgomery to have an expanded role with Bilal Powell set to miss (flu and an ankle injury), but he isn’t a viable starting option.

Wide Receivers/Tight End:

  • Robby Anderson (Start, WR3 with WR2 upside)
  • Jamison Crowder (Sit)
  • Demaryius Thomas (Sit)
  • Daniel Brown (Sit)

It’s Robby Anderson or bust for Jets receivers, fantasy speaking. You can certainly argue it goes the same for real life. Anderson is red-hot, having caught seven passes on 11 targets for 116 yards and a touchdown. He’s topped the 100-yard mark in back to back games, though he does have a tough task ahead of him with Baltimore. Jamison Crowder has truly fallen off the WR3 map he once seemed locked into, and Demaryius Thomas was listed as doubtful on Thursday with a hamstring injury.

Go-to tight end Ryan Griffin was a DNP to start this week, having exited Week 14 on the first series of the game with an ankle injury. On Wednesday, he was ruled out. The next man up is Daniel Brown, who won’t be on the streaming radar.

Baltimore Ravens

Quarterback:

  • Lamar Jackson (Start, QB1)

Never did I think I’d have to consider watching out on Lamar Jackson this season, but it’s realistic to do so heading into Thursday night. He’s battling a quad injury – true severity unknown – and his night may end up one of three ways.  He could be ruled out ahead of time (enter in Robert Griffin III). He could ball out as expected, but exit fairly early. Or, he could play the entire game and have a night. He claims he’s ‘feeling great’, and my guess is he ends up playing the majority of the game, and if the score gets out of hand, he’ll exit with some time to spare. Still, he’s set to post QB1 numbers no doubt against an ailing New York defense. I should know, I’m a Jets fan….

Running Backs:

  • Mark Ingram (Start, RB3)
  • Gus Edwards (Sit)

If there is one good thing the Jets defense does, it stops the run. They have given up the 10th fewest fantasy points to running backs this season, and rank atop the league’s best on average. Mark Ingram is a very touchdown-dependent back, and I would consider him in the same boat this week. Gus Edwards has been a handcuff all season and remains that way.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends:

  • Marquise Brown (Start, FLEX at best)
  • Willie Snead IV (Sit)
  • Miles Boykin (Sit)
  • Mark Andrews (Sit)
  • Hayden Hurst (Start, TE2 given Andrews’ knee)
  • Nick Boyle (Start, TE2 given Andrews’ knee)

If I recall correctly, this is my first time covering the Ravens for QBL’s Sit/Start series. You can call me crazy, but it’s remarkable how Action Jackson is leading the MVP race given the receivers he has had all season. Heading into TNF, Marquise Brown is the only WR I would consider starting, and he’d be a flex at best. Last week against the Bills, he somehow managed to catch three of three targets for -2 yards. It is worth noting he has his nagging ankle injury for weeks now. Willie Snead IV and Miles Boykin have no starting value.

Looking at the TE situation, Mark Andrews returned to practice on Tuesday having suffered a ‘minor’ knee injury last Sunday. Still, you wonder if the Ravens will opt to sit him or start him on a snap count, given the fact that they have viable options to pivot to in Hayden Hurst and Nick Boyle. If Andrews is active, consider him a TE2 who may not see much action at all, which is why I’m suggesting to sit him entirely if you can afford to do so. With that, Hurst or Boyle would then possess TE2 upside, but keep in mind the Jets have given up the second-fewest fantasy points to the tight end this season.

Should I start Hollywood Brown or Terry McLauren

  2. Brent says:

My RB’s in standard scoring are: Chubb, Kamara, Miles Sanders, Mostert, DeAndre Washington and Latavius Murray. Can you give me the top three to start (Assume that Howard and Jacobs are out)?
Based on matchups and production, the thought has crossed my mind to sit Kamara.

    • Erik Smith says:

I can’t bench Kamara, I’d roll with him and Chubb for sure, but choosing between Sanders, Mostert, and Washington is tough. I might ride the hot hand with Mostert and hope that offense keeps rolling.

Cracks me up when ya’ll ask someone to pick half your lineup. The fun is fantasy is guessing and managing your own team…why turn it all over to someone who’s guessing, just like you. It’s gambling. Would you ask someone to guess your die roll or would you just roll it? Lmao
