Philadelphia Eagles

Quarterback:

  • Carson Wentz (Sit)

At this point in the year, it’s really difficult to have faith in Carson Wentz as anything more than a QB2. For most of the year, the offense has looked stagnant in the first half and that was the case in Week 14 against the Giants. Wentz should be without Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholar, Jordan Howard, DeSean Jackson, and maybe even J.J. Arcega-Whiteside this week, which makes trusting him even more difficult, regardless of the nice matchup. For what it’s worth, the Redskins are middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed, sitting on the 13th.

Running Backs:

  • Miles Sanders (Start/Flex)
  • Boston Scott (Sit)
  • Jordan Howard (Start/Flex*)

Jordan Howard’s status is still up in the air, as he still has not been cleared for contact. The Redskins provide a decent matchup, so if Howard can go, I’m willing to fire him up as a flex play in what should be a positive game script. If Howard remains out, we should see a mix of Miles Sanders and Boston Scott. In Week 14, Sanders was in and out of the lineup with cramps and even spent some time in the locker room getting an I.V. of fluids. Maybe that explains the snap share of 56% to Sanders, while 44% went to Scott. The other reason for the difference was Scott’s performance. Scott finished the game with 128 total yards and looked like a young Darren Sproles whenever he touched the ball. I’d be surprised if we saw Sanders get the majority of the snaps, which makes starting him difficult.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends:

  • Zach Ertz (Start/TE1)
  • Dallas Goedert (Start/TE1)
  • Greg Ward (Sit)

Here’s what we got for the Eagles receiving core as of this writing: Alshon Jeffery has been ruled out for the season and the Eagles are looking to the practice squad for starting wideouts. This should mean a bigger target share for Dallas Goedert and Greg Ward. Goedert has been solid over the last six weeks, as he’s seen a 15% target share. He comes in as a backend TE1 against a Washington team that has been middle of the pack against tight ends this year. Former Houston quarterback, Greg Ward stepped into a major role in Week 14 following Alshon Jeffery’s exit and played decent all things considered. Ward saw nine targets, including one in the end zone that bounced off his hands for a would-be touchdown. Zach Ertz will end up seeing the lion’s share of the targets, making him a high-end TE1 this week.

Washington Redskins

Quarterback:

  • Dwayne Haskins (Sit)

It’s difficult to imagine a league where Dwayne Haskins is being considered to start at all, especially in the fantasy playoffs. For the Redskins offense as a whole, the issues start with the offensive line. In the year, the offensive line has allowed the second-worst adjusted sack rate according to Football Outsiders. The strength of the Eagles’ defense has been the defensive line and the front seven’s ability to stop the run, so Haskins could be running for his life on Sunday.

Running Backs:

  • Adrian Peterson (Sit)
  • Chris Thompson (Sit)

With Derrius Guice out with an MCL sprain, Adrian Peterson should see an uptick in the early-down work. Normally, I would be excited about an increased workload, but in this case, it comes against an Eagles’ run defense that ranks in the top third of the league in allowing fantasy points to opposing running backs. If you’re in a PPR league and are desperate at flex, I could see turning to Chris Thompson, who saw eight targets against the Packers last week. The Eagles’ pass rush should have Haskins looking to get rid of the ball early, which would lead to another big workload for Thompson.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends:

  • Terry McLaurin (Start/Flex)
  • Steven Sims (Sit)
  • Kelvin Harmon (Sit)

While I love the matchup against the Eagles porous secondary, it’s difficult to trust Terry McLaurin this deep into the season. Over the last three games, McLaurin has seen 12, 4, and 7 targets, respectively. In one league where I lost Mike Evans, I’ll be rolling out McLaurin as a flex, so if you want to comfort each other, hit me up. Steven Sims and Kelvin Harmon have taken on a bigger role with Paul Richardson and Trey Quinn out, but neither is relevant for fantasy purposes.

Should I start Hollywood Brown or Terry McLauren

  2. Brent says:

My RB’s in standard scoring are: Chubb, Kamara, Miles Sanders, Mostert, DeAndre Washington and Latavius Murray. Can you give me the top three to start (Assume that Howard and Jacobs are out)?
Based on matchups and production, the thought has crossed my mind to sit Kamara.

    • Erik Smith says:

I can’t bench Kamara, I’d roll with him and Chubb for sure, but choosing between Sanders, Mostert, and Washington is tough. I might ride the hot hand with Mostert and hope that offense keeps rolling.

Cracks me up when ya’ll ask someone to pick half your lineup. The fun is fantasy is guessing and managing your own team…why turn it all over to someone who’s guessing, just like you. It’s gambling. Would you ask someone to guess your die roll or would you just roll it? Lmao
