Sleeper Spotlight: Teddy Bridgewater
New Orleans Saints
Quarterbacks:
- Teddy Bridgewater (Streamer)
- Taysom Hill (Sit)
Down goes Uncle Drew Brees for the next six weeks with a thumb injury that will require surgery. Next man/men up in NOLA are Teddy Bridgewater and jack-of-all-trades Taysom Hill. Bridgewater has been announced as the starter, and I am looking for him to excel in this matchup verse Seattle. Remember – he stayed on with the Saints despite having an offer to compete for the Dolphins starting gig this summer, because he believed he can earn the role in New Orleans one day. Perhaps this is the right time for him to plant those seeds.
I raise Hill’s name because you can expect him to be even more involved with the offense now that Brees is out. I would anticipate more throws from behind center, but he’s not worthy yet of adding as a QB option to your squad. His usage though is certainly worth monitoring.
Running Backs:
- Alvin Kamara (Start/RB1)
- Latavius Murray (Sit)
The age-old quote in fantasy sports – “start your studs”. This sentiment stays true for Alvin Kamara this week and beyond, even with Brees out. Yes, you can figure he’ll always be more successful with Brees, but I expect Bridgewater and Sean Payton to dial-up Kamara often. Latavius Murray on the other hand, you can sit him; not that you were likely starting him unless you were desperate. He has not filled in as the Mark Ingram-type role through the first two, and I wouldn’t bank on it in this one either.
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends:
- Michael Thomas (Start/WR1)
- Ted Ginn Jr (Sit)
- Tre’Quan Smith (Sit)
- Jared Cook (Start/TE2)
Similar to Kamara, Michael Thomas is one of your studs that you have to still start. No Brees for @Cantguardmike does not help him, but Bridgewater will have to involve him often. Tre’Quan Smith is dealing with an ankle injury, and Ted Ginn Jr’s value takes a hit without Brees because last week, Ginn was not targeted at all by Bridgewater.
I say start Jared Cook because the TE landscape is forever bleak outside of the top few options. Also, Bridgewater may want to lean on a safety target. He did target him five times against the Rams when Brees exited.
Seattle Seahawks
Quarterbacks:
- Russell Wilson (Start/QB1)
Russell Wilson is coming off a big performance against the Steelers last week; 29/35 for 300 yards on the dot, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He’ll look to continue that against a Saints defense that just gave up 27 points to the Rams.
Running Backs:
- Chris Carson (Start/RB1)
- Rashaad Penny (Sit)
While Rashaad Penny did see an uptick in usage Week 2, and even a score to brag about, I still believe he is simply Chris Carson’s cuff. However, it’ll be worth monitoring for the weeks ahead if Carson can’t fix his fumbling woes. With that said, I’d still fire up Carson with confidence this week, as it’s clear Seattle plans accordingly with him as their RB1.
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends:
- Tyler Lockett (Start/WR2)
- DK Metcalf (Start/Flex)
- Will Dissly (Start if you must/Sit if you have better options)
Tyler Lockett was involved like the WR1 we expected him to be in this Seattle offense post-Doug Baldwin having to retire. Wilson targeted him 12 times, and Lockett was able to haul in 10 grabs, but just for 79 yards against the Steelers.
It may be too late, but if you’re fortunate enough to be in a league where he is still up for grabs, go invest in your DK Metcalf stock. He was targeted seven times, to which he only caught three for 61 yards, but did have a score. Overall through two games, he’s got seven receptions for 150 yards, and I see that rising as the weeks go. As long as his knee remains healthy, he’s too big a target for Wilson to ignore.
Will Dissly is a tight end worth monitoring and starting if you must. He is coming off a five reception (to five targets) game in which two of his grabs went for scores. Who said TE wasn’t deep in fantasy!?

So I have Vance on my bench with Marc Andrews starting.
My Flex options are Mike Wiliams (currently sitting in Flex spot), James White and Vance – Josh Jacobs says he’s sick and has lost 10lbs, plus the hip injury and going against MIN.
Should I start Vance over Williams/White?
I would not
Considering Joe Mixon’s slow start do you think John Brown or Kerryon Johnson would be better at the flex spot?
Massively struggling between Hilton and Golladay for my Flex. 0.25 PPR. Many experts are leaning towards Hilton, but I think Golladay has the better game. Thoughts?
your thoughts on shady or gore for my flex spot? i have saquon and kerryon for RB1/2. rest of my bench consists of aj green, kenny stills, chris thopson and ito smith. yes, i am in trouble.
Who should I flex? Kerryon, Scary Terry, or John Ross?
I should keep Lockett in over Fitz, right? He has a more favorable defensive matchup by far, and more upside, although I’m sure Fitz will get fed.
Metcalf is currently an available free agent in my 8-team league. Would you drop Mike Williams in favor of Metcalf? I currently have Lockett on my roster and on the bench in favor of Marquise Brown in the flex, and John Brown starting. Fitz is also on the bench. Hopkins and OBJ are my other starters.
No touchdown for Matt Breida last week unfortunately, otherwise great write-ups!
I currently have D.J. Chark, D.J. Moore, Adam Thielen, John Brown, and Mecole Hardman on my team. I am thinking about starting John Brown as my WR1, D.J. Chark as my WR2, and Mecole Hardman as my flex. So far I have not been impressed by Thielen this year, and with Cam most likely out I am afraid to start Moore. What do you recommend?
sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong thread, but I have a dilemma. No clue on who to start. I can start 6
PPR
Bell, Thielen, OBJ, Ridley, Montgomery, Keryon, Hollywood, DJ Chark
I’m leaning on benching dj and thielen. Opinions?
Rather than asking specific players, what positional ranking is highest in a 1 point PPR league
RB Flex, WR3, or TE1?
