Start ‘Em and Sit ‘Em – Week 12

Three players to start and sit in your Week 12 matchups!

Well, my D.K. Metcalf lead call last week stunk. He caught five of eight targets for 49 scoreless yards. At least Christian Watson boomed to the tune of two touchdowns against the Giants! And my Tetairoa McMillan sit designation was a mistake. Safe to say Week 11 was a mixed bag on my part.

Now it’s time to move forward & dive into Week 12.

A reminder that I judge my “start” or “sit” against a full-PPR format.

Start ‘Em

Jameson Williams, WR – Detroit Lions

Week 12 Matchup: vs New York Giants

Jameson Williams has really turned it up a notch, not only with Sam LaPorta hitting IR with a back injury, but ever since Dan Campbell took over offensive play-calling duties. In the 16-9 loss to the Eagles last week, Jameo owned an elite 94.9% snap rate per FantasyData, catching four of seven targets for 88 yards and a touchdown. And in the span of two games with Campbell on the call, Williams has compiled a 10-207-2 touchdown (14 total targets) box score. The Giants are on tap this week, a defense that just allowed Watson to catch two touchdowns, as I mentioned at the top. Consider Williams a WR2 with WR1 boom upside, even alongside Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Andrei Iosivas, WR – Cincinnati Bengals

Week 11 Matchup: vs New England Patriots

No Ja’Marr Chase (suspension) this week, but we are trending towards a surprise return from Joe Burrow after missing months with a toe injury. At the time of writing, he’s logged full practices all week, and this would open the door for Andrei Iosivas to be a viable FLEX play. The rationale here is solely a volume play, and you’ll want to hope Iosivas can take advantage of the increased looks. The Patriots are rolling, but they are also allowing the 15th most fantasy points to opposing WRs on the year.

AJ Barner, TE – Seattle Seahawks

Week 12 Matchup: @ Tennessee Titans

AJ Barner will be looking to build off his impressive Week 11 showing in the loss to the Rams last week. Barner posted 10 catches for 70 yards, making that five double-digit PPR outputs in his last seven games. The Titans are fairly strong against opposing TEs, allowing just 11.9 points per game to the position this season, but Barner will remain firmly on the streaming radar as he has week over week.

Sit ‘Em

Justin Jefferson, WR – Minnesota Vikings

Week 12 Matchup: @ Green Bay Packers

Hear me out – it’s not Justin Jefferson‘s fault. J.J. McCarthy is holding back all of Jetta’s potential since returning to action, which is forcing Minnesota to lean on their run game more than they’d probably like. The Packers are going to be a tough task, as they rank 11th on the year in points allowed to opposing fantasy WRs. Surely this call is going to backfire on me, but I dare to think that Jefferson is a bit cooked right now with JJM under center.

Tony Pollard, RB – Tennessee Titans

Week 12 Matchup: vs Seattle Seahawks

This one feels obvious, and has been the case for a few weeks now; ever since Tyjae Spears has re-entered the Titans’ backfield. Tony Pollard has not been a productive ‘back to say the least, posting single-digit fantasy outputs in five of the last six games. Pollard is the RB29 on the year in full-PPR formats, and finds himself barely on the FLEX radar against a Seahawks defense that is allowing the sixth-fewest rushing yards per game.

Tre Tucker, WR – Las Vegas Raiders

Week 12  Matchup: vs Cleveland Browns

Tre Tucker is coming off a Week 11 where he caught four of eight targets for 47 yards and a touchdown, but even with the now-absence of Jakobi Meyers (via trade), this week is not a spot for Tucker to boom. The Vegas offense is not only a hot mess right now, but they are going to face a tough Browns defense that is allowing the eighth-fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers on the year.
