Start ‘Em and Sit ‘Em – Week 6

Three players to start and sit in your Week 6 matchups!

Matthew Golden? Nailed it for Week 5. Ollie Gordon II, not bad either. Antonio Williams, dud start call. I also missed the mark on suggesting to sit Braelon Allen, but hit the mark on Alvin Kamara and Josh Downs.

Onto Week 6!

A reminder that I judge my “start” or “sit” against a full-PPR format.

Start ‘Em

Germie Bernard, WR – Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 6 Matchup: @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Being the most popular WR-to-add off the wire this week, there is some pressure pressed upon Germie Bernard in Week 6. We’re looking for him to build on his productive outing in the win over the Colts last week, a game in which he caught six of nine targets for 80 yards, adding one carry for four yards. There will be no Michael Pittman Jr. (foot) again, and now Roman Wilson due to a finger injury, making way for Bernard to eat into DK Metcalf‘s target share. Over the last three weeks, Bernard is averaging 11.7 yards per reception, totaling nine grabs on 12 targets in that span. He’s got the trust of Aaron Rodgers, and we know that goes a long way for a receiver.

Kirk Cousins, QB – Las Vegas Raiders

Week 6 Matchup: vs. Buffalo Bills

Don’t let Week 5 scare you. The Patriots had found their groove in the lopsided 45-17 win over Vegas, and Kirk Cousins had his worst game (and fantasy output) of the year. He completed 19/28 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown; he did fumble the ball once too, but did not turn it over. Through five games, Cousins owns a 12:4 TD:INT ratio, with 1269 yards, good for 8th overall in 2026. Why I feel Cousins is worth a stream this week if you are going to be without a player like Joe Burrow or Jared Goff is simply because of the matchup. Buffalo is giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing QBs this year, and on Monday night, they allowed Matthew Stafford to throw for 383 yards and three touchdowns.

FantasyData has Kirk Cousins pegged to finish as the QB13 this week.

Dallas Goedert, TE – Philadelphia Eagles

Week 6 Matchup: vs. Carolina Panthers

Dallas Goedert returned to action in London after missing two games with a knee injury, and immediately saw nine targets in the loss to Jacksonville. He caught six of those looks for 38 scoreless yards, but the target share led all Eagles pass-catchers on the day; Dontayvion Wicks was behind him with eight. His six receptions were also a team-high, and for as long as DeVonta Smith may be hurt/sidelined – not to mention no real running back room to speak of with Saquon Barkley still hurt – Goedert is a tight end you’ll want to lean on this week. The Panthers are allowing the ninth-most points to opposing TE’s on the year.

With news breaking Thursday afternoon that Jalen Hurts has been ruled out due to a superficial blood clot, enter Tanner McKee at QB for Philly this week. Dare I say this helps Goedert even more, just knowing how backup or younger QBs tend to lean on their tight end? Volume is historically ‘king’ for running backs, but in the case of the Eagles, it may funnel through Goedert.

Sit ‘Em

Omarion Hampton – RB, Los Angeles Chargers

Week 6 Matchup: @ Kansas City Chiefs

98% rostered, yet as of Tuesday, Yahoo has removed Omarion Hampton from the Can’t Cut List — woof. The 0-5 Chargers have been the biggest disappointment of the season without debate, and Hampton has been a key reason why. Yes, he’s a product of an injury-riddled offensive line, but through five games, Hampton has just 271 yards on the ground, with five receptions to his name. He’s the RB25 on the year in PPR leagues, and is conceding touches to the likes of Kimani Vidal and Keaton Mitchell. Set to face Kansas City this week, the Chiefs have allowed the second-fewest rushing yards (371) to RB’s on the year.

It’s a tough pill to swallow, but until Hampton strings together a game or two of positive production, he’s best left on your bench.

Kyle Pitts Sr., TE – Atlanta Falcons

Week 6  Matchup: vs. Chicago Bears

Kyle Pitts Sr. finally found the end zone for the first time this season in the OT loss to the Ravens, a touchdown that saved his fantasy day from being yet another disappointing output. On the year, Pitts has been targeted just 15 times, catching 10 balls for 109 yards – which ranks him as the TE31 through five games. Michael Penix Jr. is expected to be under center despite suffering a late rib injury that forced Tua Tagovailoa into the game briefly last week, and that’s good news for the Falcons offense overall. However, given these inconsistencies this season (and the story of his NFL career), avoid Pitts this week, as he’s going up against a Bears defense that has been stout against opposing tight ends. They’ve allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to the position.

Emeka Egbuka, WR – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Week 6 Matchup: at Pittsburgh Steelers

Emeka Egbuka came out of the Week 5 upset win over Dallas with his best game of the season, catching six of nine targets for 38 yards, and turned one carry into a 14-yard touchdown. Clearly, though, it was the touchdown that saved his otherwise lackluster game, which has been the case for most of the season. Entering Week 6, Egbuka has just 192 receiving yards and a touchdown on 21 receptions.

The Steelers defense presents a much more difficult matchup than Dallas did. Pittsburgh has allowed just two touchdowns to wide receivers through five games, and with Jalon Daniels expected to be under center again with Baker Mayfield sidelined, Egbuka will serve you best out of your lineup.
