Start ‘Em and Sit ‘Em – Week 7

Three players to start and sit in your Week 7 matchups!

My sit callouts for Week 6 were all on point, but a delayed apology is in order if you followed my start recommendations or just expected more from those three players. The most disappointing result had to have been Tucker Kraft, considering the Packers put up 34 points.

A reminder that I judge my ‘hit or miss’ against a full-PPR format.

Week 6 Start ‘Em and Sit ‘Em Recap

On to Week 7!

Start ‘Em

Nick Chubb, RB – Cleveland Browns

Week 7 Matchup: vs Cincinnati Bengals

Hello Nick Chubb. The Browns’ stud RB is set to make his season debut coming off the gruesome knee injury he suffered in Week 2 of last year. One would imagine he’s going to be using sparingly, but he’s logged full practices so far this week, and it’s important to remember that Jerome Ford is expected to be out with a hamstring injury. This will open the door for Chubb to reclaim his backfield against a Bengals defense that is allowing an average of 24.4 points per game to opposing RBs, per FantasyData.

Demario Douglas, WR – New England Patriots

Week 7 Matchup: @ Jacksonville Jaguars (in London)

It’s due to be a ‘London Calling’ for Demario Douglas this week against a Jaguars defense that is allowing the second-most fantasy points to WRs this season. Pop showed out last week against the Texans – albeit in a blowout – to the tune of six catches on nine targets for 92 yards and a touchdown. Rookie QB Drake Maye made his NFL debut and leaned on Douglas, targeting him the most compared to Hunter Henry‘s five. Because the Jacksonville defense leaks points to opposing receivers, it’s a good week to give Douglas a shot in your FLEX when you remember there are some notable pass-catchers on BYE between the Cowboys and Bears this week. FantasyData projects Douglas to finish with 10.3 full-PPR points, which will again lead the Pats’ WRs on the week.

Chuba Hubbard, RB – Carolina Panthers

Week 7 Matchup: @ Washington Commanders

Chuba Hubbard continues to be a volume-based back who produces week in and week out on an otherwise poor Panthers offense. Since Week 3, when Andy Dalton took over QB duties for Carolina, Hubbard has averaged 17.5 carries and 101.7 rushing yards per game, He has two rushing scores in that four-game span and isn’t a slouch in the pass game either. Since Week 3, Hubbard has 18 receptions on 19 targets for 81 yards and a touchdown. Fire him up this week against a middle-of-the-pack Commanders defense that just allowed Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson to total 172 yards on the ground with a Henry touchdown.

Sit ‘Em

Sean Tucker, RB – Tampa Bay Bucaneers

Week 7 Matchup: vs Baltimore Ravens

This one seems a bit obvious, but consider it a warning to those who may have jumped at him on waiver Wednesday coming off of his explosive Week 6. In the 51-27 win against the Saints, Tucker rushed for 136 yards on 14 carries for a touchdown and also caught all three of his targets for 56 yards and a receiving score. Bucky Irving didn’t have a bad day himself, turning his 14 carries into 81 yards and a touchdown. Tucker and the rest of the Bucs backfield are set to face a Ravens defense that is allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs on the season. At the time of writing, it’s unclear if Rachaad White will be back this week from his foot injury, but it’s likely best to avoid a Tampa Bay RB this week if you can.

Jaylen Waddle, WR – Miami Dolphins

Week 7 Matchup: @ Indianapolis Colts

Fresh off a BYE doesn’t mean much for Jaylen Waddle these days. In the last three games, all still without Tua Tagovailoa under center for the Dolphins, Waddle has averaged 7.6 full-PPR points a game. He’s yet to find the end zone this season, and hasn’t eclipsed 50 receiving yards since Week 1 when he had 109.

The Colts are a middle-of-the-pack defense against WRs this season, allowing the 11th most points to the position, but Waddle cannot be trusted without Tua. Tyler Huntley is set to start, but it won’t make much of a difference here whether it is he or Skylar Thompson throwing the ball for Miami.

Tank Bigsby, RB – Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 7 Matchup: vs New England Patriots (in London)

The fantasy community has been anticipating ‘Tank szn’ all season, and while we got it Week 5, Tank Bigsby came crashing back to earth in the loss to the Bears. He turned seven carries into 24 scoreless yards, but it was D’Ernest Johnson who out-snapped Bigsby 35 to 17, per FantasyData. That’s a number worth noting, and it doesn’t help that Travis Etienne Jr. – despite his hamstring injury – actually logged a limited practice on Wednesday, to the surprise of many. Even if Etienne ends up missing this one, I would suggest avoiding Bigsby altogether this week.

  1. Casey says:

Am I dumb to assume they didn’t play Bigsby more because Etienne was hurt and they were already down so bad? Wanted to keep him healthy.
