Every week we will bring you our advice on which signal-callers have the potential to help your fantasy teams win. We will look at the previous weeks’ performances, the quarterbacks’ supporting cast, the matchup, and smart statistical insights to offer you the clearest picture of which QB to pick up from your waiver wire.
Remember, we will only consider QBs who are less than 70% rostered in Yahoo! leagues to give you an honest chance at picking one up for your team’s matchup.
Week 9 was a bumper week for our streaming options – our primary recommendation Joshua Dobbs (24.92 fantasy points in Yahoo!) was worth the risk as he balled out (somewhat haphazardly) in the Minnesota Vikings’ last-gasp win over the Falcons. Dobbs was inspired as he worked around limited knowledge of the team’s playbook to street-ball his way to a fantasy QB5 finish. Unbelievable! Sam Howell (18.70 fantasy points) also recorded a fantasy Top 10 finish at the position thanks to a spectacular throw to Jahan Dotson to tie the game before a field goal won it for the Washington Commanders. Howell repaid the faith we showed in him last week. Our last option was New Orleans Saints veteran Derek Carr (16.74 fantasy points), who failed to meet the heights of the previous few games but was still a reliable streaming option. Carr ceded some production to Taysom Hill but still managed to be fantasy-relevant.
QB | Matchup | % Rostered (Yahoo!) | Fantasy Points |
---|---|---|---|
Sam Howell, Commanders | WAS at NE | 59% | 18.70 |
Derek Carr, Saints | NO vs. CHI | 67% | 16.74 |
Joshua Dobbs, Vikings | MIN at ATL | 17% | 24.92 |
Going into Week 10 we have four teams on bye, and they are big ones! Quarterbacks missing this week are Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs), Jalen Hurts (Eagles), Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins) and Matthew Stafford (Rams) so there will be plenty of fantasy managers needing a plug-in signal caller this week.
With that knowledge in mind, let’s look at our recommendations for streaming.
QB | Matchup | % Rostered (Yahoo!) | Projected Fantasy Points |
---|---|---|---|
Taylor Heinicke, Falcons | ATL at ARI | 17% | 14.92 |
Sam Howell, Commanders | WAS at SEA | 69% | 16.09 |
Joshua Dobbs, Vikings | MIN vs. NO | 48% | 15.26 |
“Guts for Glory”
Taylor Heinicke, Falcons at Cardinals
A solid outing in his first start of the season against his former team the Vikings, Taylor Heinicke now gets a reeling Arizona Cardinals team with Kyler Murray making his first start of the season. This has shootout written all over it and we are on board. Heinicke has weapons and he threw plenty of screens and short passes to get his playmakers out in space. Drake London should be back in the lineup, too. The Cardinals are giving up on average over 18 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.

“Top 10 Guy”
Sam Howell, Commanders at Seahawks
Ranking as the fantasy QB11 so far this season, Sam Howell has the opportunity to break the Top 10 with a plus matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, who were picked apart last week by the Baltimore Ravens. Howell is riding a wave of confidence and his leadership on this team is being laid out for all to see. Howell has attempted over 40 passes in each of his last three contests and looks to be a fantasy starlet once again in Week 10.
Off his back foot, Sam Howell just threw this absolutely perfect ball to Terry McLaurin on the sideline pic.twitter.com/a7iWBKx96S

“Winning as it goes”
Joshua Dobbs, Vikings vs. Saints
After a “Houdini Act” from Joshua Dobbs on his Vikings debut, the new Minnesota quarterback has a whole week to get a little bit better, hard to imagine after a Top 5 fantasy finish. Dobbs could get Justin Jefferson back, and as Minnesota rides a wave of good culture, Dobbs gets a chance to be himself and become a hero. It fits the personality and the team.
The Saints’ defense will be no easy target but they gave up 70 yards on the ground to Tyson Bagent last week, so Dobbs’ tendency to scramble and find a way out of trouble may serve him well.
This is a bonkers scramble by Joshua Dobbs.
And watch Cam Akers lay the wood near the end of this play too 😱😱
