Streaming Quarterbacks – Week 12

Welcome to the final week of byes, but boy is it a doozy. Just two weeks before some fantasy playoffs begin, the Patrick Mahomes owner is over here streaming a quarterback. Don’t worry homie, I got you!

The Konami Code was in full effect, as four of the top six quarterbacks this week ran for at least 50 yards, with three of them finding the end zone. Josh Allen dominated the Dolphins throwing for three touchdowns while adding a fourth with his legs for good measure (and to just anger us Devin Singletary owners). Allen is currently QB9 in points per game, thanks to a league-high (for QBs) seven rushing scores. The Bills’ schedule gets tough down the stretch with matchups against the Broncos, Ravens, Steelers, and Patriots all on tap. Let’s take a look at the rest of the Week 11 leader board:

 

 

The Raiders struggled more than I expected them to against the Bengals, but thankfully, Derek Carr still had a solid game. Carr finished the game an efficient 25/29 for 292 yards, one touchdown, and one pick. Carr saved his fantasy day by vulturing a 3-yard touchdown run from Josh Jacobs to finish as QB11 with 19.8 fantasy points. While the Bengals defense wasn’t a juggernaut, they just seemed to stifle the Raiders at the right time, getting a sack on 3rd and 2, forcing Jacobs into a fumble, and picking off Carr on a 3rd and 4 play. This game doesn’t change my opinion of the Bengals’ defense and they’ll remain a target for us to stream against down the stretch.

Okay, so maybe the Falcons defense is legit. We now have a two-week sample size of the Falcons’ defense without Dan Quinn calling the plays and they’ve accrued nine sacks. Side note – can you imagine being a player on the Falcons defense and being legit good, but having a clown calling the plays, making your team look like a Benny Hill bit? Kyle Allen went 31/50 passing for 325 yards and four picks against this now vaunted defense. Allen’s 5.7 points are now a season-low for one of my streaming options, so let’s not do that again, Rich, okay?

The Jaguars welcomed Nick Foles back to the lineup and as a team, there were mixed results. Leonard Fournette struggled and the Jaguars run defense left gaping holes for Marlon Mack and Jonathan Williams to scamper through, but Foles performed pretty well. Foles finished the day 33/47 for 296 yards while connecting with D.J. Chark for two scores, and throwing one interception. Speaking of Chark, he ended up seeing 15 targets from Foles, clearing up any worries we had about him not getting a proper workload with Foles under center. For the week, Foles finished as QB12 with 17.8 fantasy points – not bad a bad stream.

Let’s take a look at our Week 11 options.

 

Jacoby Brissett (38% Owned – Stream of the Week)

 

Following a tough Week 10 loss to the Dolphins that Jacoby Brissett had to watch from the sidelines, the Colts welcomed their quarterback under center with open arms against the Jaguars. To be fair, Brissett wasn’t asked to do much against the Jaguars and the Colts comfortably jammed the ball down Jacksonville’s throat for over 200 yards rushing, but it was significantly better than what Brian Hoyer brought to the table against the Dolphins. When all was said and done, Brissett ended the week with 15.1 fantasy points to finish as QB16. This week the Colts get the Texans on Thursday night and one of the themes of this week’s game against the Ravens was just how depleted the Texans’ secondary was. To make matters worse, they lost safeties Justin Reid and Mike Adams to concussions and with the short week, I’d be surprised if they were cleared against the Colts. We know Brissett is a game manager, but he should have a really solid floor against this week Texans’ defense.

 

Ryan Fitzpatrick (10% Owned)

 

It might feel a little dirty, almost like you need a good shave, but I think we can look to Ryan Fitzpatrick this week if you’re streaming. Since taking (back) over in Week 7, Fitzpatrick is averaging just shy of 20 fantasy points per game and this week will face a Browns’ defense without helmet-wielding Myles Garrett, which has allowed the 11th-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this year. Lost in the Garrett news stream was that starting safety Morgan Burnett was lost to a torn Achilles, further weakening this already poor Browns’ secondary. As long as we don’t get a classic Fitzpatrick meltdown game, he should be good to finish in the top half of quarterback scoring this week.

 

Jeff Driskel (3% Owned)

 

With the news coming out that Matthew Stafford is expected to miss an extended period of time with a back injury, Jeff Driskel will get the start against the Redskins this week. We just saw the Redskins defense allow Sam Darnold to throw for 293 yards and four touchdowns to finish as the QB7 in Week 11, while Driskel put up 27.5 fantasy points against the Cowboys. For the year, the Redskins have been pretty middle of the pack when it comes to allowing fantasy points to quarterbacks, but have allowed the QB13 and QB7 over the last two weeks. If you’re in a spot where you’re missing Patrick Mahomes, Driskel may just be your team’s savior.
