Streaming Tight Ends
We had a great week at the position, seeing multiple players break the 20-point threshold and even more touchdowns, three of which scored twice. So much so that I had to double-check it wasn’t National Tight End Day. Jake Ferguson looks like he’s the top target for Dak Prescott. George Pickens brings home he big plays, but Ferg is drowning in targets. We crushed our calls last week as we saw Theo Johnson be Jaxson Dart’s favorite target, Jake Tonges was also his QB’s favorite pass catcher, and Darren Waller hopped out of the time machine from 2021. Sam LaPorta’s three-game skid comes to an end as he gives us a top 4 finish. David Njoku found himself the favorite target of rookie Dillion Gabriel in his first start. Harold Fannin found the end zone, but the Vikings limited the big plays from the Browns. Josh Oliver continues to be a pain in Hockinson owner’s side, and the return of Jordan Addison kicks Hock as an exclusive streamer.
This week, Tucker Kraft finds himself as my top-ranked player at the position. He plays a Bengals team that looks lost in all facets of the game and is allowing the most points to the position. Tyler Warren continues to be my favorite player to watch this season, endlessly involved and on a team that has been moving. The Jaguars pick up a great game with the Seahawks, who allow the second most to the position, but sadly, Brenton Strange hits IR on Tuesday. Mark Andrews to Jacksonville, anyone?? If Brock Bowers is out and Michael Mayer returns from his concussion, I don’t mind the pivot. Darren Waller continues to be a fun player and a valuable team member. Tommy Tremble has worked his way in, as we are still missing second-year player Ja’Tavion Sanders, and I think he could be interesting as well. Dalton Kincaid remains an anomaly. I don’t know how he manages to do this, but it works. The bottom has to fall out, right!?
And now, here are a handful of my favorite deeper streaming options for you all to consider this week:
Jake Tonges
Sifting for gold again
We’re revisiting this issue. He came in clutch last week, and that’s a lot of the reason we are going back to it. The matchup is above average with the Buccaneers in a game where the 49ers have an implied total of 21 points. A lot of the appeal to Jake Tonges is honestly just availability. It’s no secret the 49ers have been decimated by injuries, and Tonges remains and is heavily involved. Kendrick Bourne brought the exception last week when he topped 100 yards, but Tonges tied him for the team lead in target share at 22.9%. Kittle will be back soon, but I love the plug-in play for at least one more week.
Taysom Hill
Why not?
It’s official, I’ve lost it. But it’s ok, I’ve worked the steps and I know I have a problem, so now I’m leaning into it. We are looking at a 35-year-old Tayson Hill coming off an ACL tear, but he isn’t just a tight end. He offers the best fantasy names and brings no better bragging rights than when you hang playing him over your opponents. Last week looked fun, but the numbers weren’t great, only 14% of snaps, but he won’t always play heavy snaps, and he’s on a team that needs him out there to bring a spark to a struggling offense. He also draws the 4th best matchup with the Patriots, allowing the fourth most points over expectation. If you are a heavy underdog in your matchup, break glass for emergencies.
Colston Loveland
Last Man Standing
I will fully admit this is more of a gut/vibes call. If you ride the narrative, this team took him in the top ten of the draft this spring, the team is coming off a bye, and the game before Colstand Loveland saw nine targets. The work may not be Earth-shattering, but I would be willing to bet that he finds the endzone this week. Ben Johnson needs to keep feeding his young studs, and manufactured targets are in store for the rookie. The Bears play the Commanders on Monday night, and this game has a 50-point implied total, so we have a shot at some fireworks. It’s a risky play, but I’m intrigued. Let’s just hope Cole Kmet doesn’t find himself snagging Loveland’s score.
