If you’re still playing fantasy football in Week 17, you’re in for a busy week. Most teams still have something to play for (with the expanded wildcard), but we are unsure how much teams will care about playoff seeding outside of the lone bye week in each conference. Add in injuries and COVID-19 related absences, and good luck! I tried to prioritize players that we knew would see a heavy workload and attempted to avoid situations where the starting quarterback will be benched, like in Pittsburgh and Kansas City. Throw in injuries to Jared Goff and potentially Kyler Murry and well, Week 17 is a mess.
One player who has been far from a mess, however, has been David Montgomery. Montgomery has finished as the RB6 or higher in each of the last five weeks and was long overdue to make the cover over The List. While Montgomery may have to deal with a negative game script against the Packers, he’s been involved in the passing game and near the goal line over the past five weeks, and makes for a rock-solid play in Week 17. Add in the fact that the Bears will be playing their starters as they fight for a playoff berth, and Montgomery is my RB3 this week against a mediocre Green Bay run defense.
