Every Tuesday of the regular season, I will be updating my rest of season rankings for PPR leagues, in hopes of helping you with roster construction and trade negotiations. These are not Week 6 matchup rankings, which I will release every Wednesday. The List is created with the rest of the season in mind.

Player Notes

  • Christian McCaffrey is putting up a historic start to a season, all without Cam Newton at quarterback. He continues to combine elite volume with big-play ability, and is clearly the top fantasy player in 2019, averaging 31.9 PPR points per game. It was long overdue that we got him on the cover of The List.
  • Well, Saquon Barkley isn’t human, and while he may not return in Week 6, his return is imminent. Time to move him back near the top of the overall rankings, because let’s face it, nobody is trading him for much of a discount right now. Barkley had to be lowered in the ranks originally due to a potential lengthy absence from his high ankle sprain. But he continues to shatter expectations in his recovery.
  • I was wrong on Michael Thomas, as I thought the Drew Brees injury would affect him more. He’s the WR2 in PPR points and is second in the league in targets. He remains an elite fantasy option every week.
  • I essentially flip-flopped Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, as Godwin looks like the true number one receiver, and Evans looks like a boom-bust option right now (though his booms are higher than anyone’s). Godwin leads Evans on the year in targets, catches, yardage, and touchdowns, and seems to be Jameis Winston‘s most trusted target.
  • Both Aaron Jones and Will Fuller don’t move up my rankings as much as you might think, mainly because I was still confident in them both rest of season before Week 5. Jones will remain the clear number one option in the offense while Jamaal Williams and Davante Adams miss time, and Fuller took advantage of Kenny Stills‘ absence to post one of the biggest wide receiver games in recent memory. It will be interesting to see if they maintain anywhere near these heights when the above players return to health. But both are talented players in high potential offenses, and I continue to like their prospects going forward.
  • The 49ers backfield looks dynamic, and both Matt Breida and Tevin Coleman looked excellent against the Browns on Monday night. They both have injury history against them, but the 49ers’ ability to generate fantasy relevance out of multiple running backs is worth chasing. Kyle Shanahan was able to make both Coleman and Devonta Freeman fantasy relevant at the same time in Atlanta, and it looks like he is doing that again in San Francisco.
  • Sterling Shepard‘s second concussion this season could be trouble, opening the door for Golden Tate to settle into a high volume slot role. Tate should begin seeing heavy volume immediately, as the Giants are banged up on offense heading into Week 6.
  • Chase Edmonds immediately jumps up the ranks at the first hint of a David Johnson injury, and Johnson is reportedly nursing a back injury. Add Edmonds and wait for the injury news to solidify, but he would be an immediate starter in fantasy if Johnson were to miss time.

Full PPR league with two WR/TE positions…

Who has more value: Kittle or Edelman?
