Welcome to rankings season! Coming off of my 26th place finish out of 229 experts in 2021’s FantasyPros pre-draft running back rankings, I’m looking to crack the top 10 this year by doing what I always do; chasing upside.
Running back is a position full of red flags and cautionary tales, so even the safest of fantasy players are full of risk. If you aren’t drafting for upside you are doing it wrong at fantasy football’s most volatile position.
This year, we have the added bonus of watching our old guard of reliable fantasy running backs hurtle towards the point of no return. Consider the following:
Our old reliable players are reaching the age where running backs tend to break down, putting fantasy football as a whole at a crossroads this year. Let’s sort through these rankings and find a way to take advantage of the position on our way to some championships.
These rankings are based on PPR scoring in your typical league type, but I will try to note players that get a boost in standard leagues.
