Waiver Wire Adds for Week 6

Looking at seven players to claim off of waivers going into Week 6.

Week 5 of the NFL season has just about wrapped up. Whether winning or losing in Week 5, it’s time to make some moves to help your team reach the ultimate goal. In this article, we will talk about the key players worth picking up to help improve your roster. We will discuss what they have done and why they are important players to pick up on rosters. We will also talk about whether they are worth spending that number one waiver claim and how much FAAB percentage you should use on them.

The Week 6 waiver wire is starting to have some names that you will want to pick up to help your fantasy roster. There is a nice mix of players who all produced in Week 5 and should have value moving forward.

Top 7 Waiver Wire Pickups

Tank Bigsby, RB – JAX

The top waiver wire pickup for Week 6 is Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby. Bigsby was already one of my waiver wires from last week, so if you picked him up, then you are doing great. In Week 5, Bigsby finished with 128 all-purpose yards and two rushing touchdowns. He outcarried Travis Etienne, who only had six carries. It could be that Etienne’s shoulder injury is a problem, allowing Bigsby to see more work. He has earned that workload, rushing eight yards per carry this season. The Jaguars play the Bears, who let Chuba Hubbard finish with 97 rushing yards. Bigsby could have upside FLEX value in Week 6.

  • Top Waiver Priority – Yes
  • FAAB % – 25%

Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB – NYG

Our next waiver pickup is New York Giant, Tyrone Tracy Jr. The rookie running back started in Week 5 and did not disappoint. He finished with 18 carries for 129 rushing yards on the day. Devin Singletary missed Week 5, which allowed Tracy Jr. to get the start. We are unaware of the severity of Singletary’s injury, which could linger into Week 6. His game could have shown the Giants that Tracy Jr. deserves more playing time moving forward regardless of Singletary. He’ll play the Bengals next week, who are a mess on defense, so he is worth the add if you need that running back help.

  • Top Waiver Priority – Yes (only if you need an RB)
  • FAAB % – 13%

Dare Ogunbowale, RB – HOU

Our third waiver pickup is Dare Ogunbowale, but you may not know who this is. Well, he is the fourth-string running back on the Texans. Why should you be picking up a fourth-string player for your fantasy team? He has averaged 12 fantasy points over the last two weeks and has become a weapon in the passing game, with 11 targets in Weeks 4 and 5. However, he is only worth picking up if Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce continue to miss more games. The Texans gave him the passing work with Mixon off the field. If Nico Collins’s injury lingers into next week, Ogunbowale could have a bigger role in the offense for fantasy. He is a dart throw pick-up that could pan out in Week 6.

  • Top Waiver Priority – No
  • FAAB % – 5%

Tyler Conklin, TE – NYJ

Our tight end pickup isn’t amazing but has been consistent in recent weeks. Tyler Conklin has seen 23 targets over the last three weeks and he looks to be an important piece in the Jets’ offense. He has eight or more fantasy points in two of the previous three games. The Jets face the Bills in Week 6, so they will need to throw the ball as often as possible in this one. If you are still struggling at tight end, then Conklin can help produce a floor play.

  • Top Waiver Priority – No
  • FAAB % – 4%

Daniel Jones, QB – NYG

Our one quarterback pickup this week is Daniel Jones, who finished Week 5 with 250 passing yards and two touchdowns on the road in Seattle. Now he heads home to play the Bengals, who have been terrible in the air. The Bengals have allowed over 800 passing yards and eight touchdowns in the previous three weeks. Jones will have Malik Nabers back on the field, so that should even help boost his value. If you are looking for a starting quarterback in Week 6, then Jones is your quarterback.

  • Top Waiver Priority – Yes
  • FAAB % – 12%

Josh Downs, WR – IND

We only have one wide receiver in the top seven pickups for Week 6. Josh Downs should have been a more significant pickup last week, but everyone went after the Packers receivers. Downs would finish Week 5 with six receptions for 69 yards. He once again led all receivers in targets with 12. Yes, he did have Joe Flacco throwing him the ball, but the Colts may be cautious with Anthony Richardson, so we could see Flacco again. If not, Richardson has a connection with the young slot receiver and should still be fine. If Downs is sitting on waivers, he needs to be picked up. He has weekly FLEX play moving forward.

  • Top Waiver Priority – Yes
  • FAAB % – 22%

Ty Chandler, RB – MIN & Jaylen Wright, RB MIA

Our last waiver wire pickups are two running backs heading toward their BYE weeks. They are considered players to stash and hold during Week 6. Ty Chandler could be looking at a starting job with Aaron Jones getting banged up on Sunday. We’ll likely know more by the time waivers run. He may not be an immediate pickup for owners looking for production for Week 6.

The same can be said for Jaylen Wright, who finished with 86 rushing yards against the Patriots and looked exceptional. De’Von Achane suffered a concussion, but he should be fine after the BYE Week. The Dolphins’ offense needs a spark, and there’s an unspoken rule that rookies after a BYE do see an uptick in opportunity. Wright could be someone a contender wants to hold on to for a few weeks and see how he blossoms.

  • Top Waiver Priority – No
  • FAAB % – 5%
