Waiver Wire Adds for Week 8

Looking at six players to claim off of waivers going into Week 8.

Week 7 of the NFL season has just about wrapped up. Whether winning or losing in Week 7, it’s time to make some moves to help your team reach the ultimate goal. In this article, we will talk about the key players worth picking up to help improve your roster. We will discuss what they have done and why they are important players to pick up on rosters. We will also talk about whether they are worth spending that number one waiver claim and how much FAAB percentage you should use on them.

The Week 8 waiver wire is starting to have some names that you will want to pick up to help your fantasy roster. There is a nice mix of players who all produced in Week 6 and should have value moving forward.

Top 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

Cedric Tillman, WR – CLE

Our first waiver wire pick will be wide receiver Cedric Tillman. The Browns recently traded Amari Cooper, so Tillman would slide into his role on the outside in the offense. On Sunday, Tillman would lead all receivers in targets with 12 and produce 80 receiving yards. In this game, he caught a ball from all three of the Browns quarterbacks. This Browns offense could change now that Deshaun Watson is likely done for the season. There is a chance that Jameis Winston will be the starting quarterback moving forward despite being the third quarterback on the roster today. Tillman fits the downfield receiver that Winston loves to throw to. He could be worth a sneaky add this week.

  • Top Waiver Priority – Yes
  • FAAB % – 6%

Ricky Pearsall, WR – SF

Our second player is rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall. The 49ers receiver played in his first NFL game after that devastating off-the-field situation in early September. In Week 7, Deebo Samuel left after an illness, and Brandon Aiyuk suffered a knee injury that forced him to be carted to the locker room. Aiyuk is feared to have a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season. Let’s not forget that Jauan Jennings didn’t play due to an injury. Pearsall may have high value in this 49ers offense sooner than later, which may force him into the starting lineup. He did play a lot in this game, with 74% of the snaps. He is worth picking up to see if he can thrive on a good offense.

  • Top Waiver Priority – Yes
  • FAAB % – 13%

Hunter Henry, TE – NE

Our first tight end in waivers is New England Patriot Hunter Henry. The veteran tight end has played well with rookie quarterback Drake Maye. We’ve seen this Patriots offense take a step up in the passing game since the rookie has been the starter. Henry has double-digit fantasy points in back-to-back games. Henry should continue to be a reliable target in the middle of the field. If you are dealing with a headache at the tight end position, then Henry should be on your radars in Week 8.

  • Top Waiver Priority – No
  • FAAB % – 7%

Jameis Winston, QB – CLE

Our only quarterback this week is Cleveland Brown Jameis Winston. Current starter Watson has torn his Achilles, which will end his 2024 season. Winston hasn’t been declared the new starter, but he gives the Browns the best chance to win moving forward. We know Winston is a headache fantasy player who causes turnovers but has the elite upside to three or four touchdowns in any game. Winston would play the final drive in Week 7, throwing 67 yards leading to a score.  Winston could have borderline QB1 upside in fantasy moving forward, so you may want to scoop him up if you are struggling with a quarterback.

  • Top Waiver Priority – No
  • FAAB % – 2%

Jonnu Smith, TE – MIA

Since the waiver wire is the weakest it’s been all season, we have another tight end in Jonnu Smith. The Miami tight end has back-to-back solid performances on this lousy offense. He had his best day as a Dolphin with seven receptions for 96 yards. Miami’s offense could change if Tua Tagovailoa does return in Week 8. Miami needs to continue to use Smith as a weapon in this offense, as he has shown the ability to find the soft spot in zone defense. Smith could be an option for those looking for a better tight end in their lineups.

  • Top Waiver Priority – No
  • FAAB % – 3%

Tyler Goodson, RB – IND

Our only running back this week is Tyler Goodson from the Indianapolis Colts. Thankfully, there were not any major injuries to a starting running back in Week 7. Sean Tucker and Kimani Vidal on MNF are some to consider if they do well. If not, then Goodson could be the depth piece worthy of adding to your roster. While Goodson wasn’t the starter going into Sunday, he outshined Trey Sermon. He finished with more carries and had this game’s critical red zone touchdown. Goodson looked more explosive for this Colts offense, and they should continue using him as long as Jonathan Taylor remains out. He isn’t a MUST add but a depth piece if you are weak at running back.

  • Top Waiver Priority – No
  • FAAB % – 4%
