Week 14 Streamer Options – D/ST

Chris Sanzo picks his four favorite D/ST streamers for Week 14.

Week 14 is here and it’s time to make that one last hurrah before the playoffs. If you need just one last play to put you over the top or just need a DFS play this week, we’re here for you! As always, this will not cover teams with an ownership above 50% in most leagues. If you have a defense like the Bucs, you should be starting them every week so no worries there. Other selections that are hovering around 50% that I would consider if available are the Broncos, Vikings, and Packers. Good luck this week, hope to see you back for the playoffs!

Los Angeles Chargers

Opponent: vs New York Giants

DraftKings: $4300

FanDuel: $4300

This first bit is an important note. The Chargers are the most expensive team on the DraftKings slate and yet, priced exactly the same for FanDuel. If you play heavier on FD, I would hammer this discrepancy and fade them on DK in GPP’s. With that taken care of, seasonal players looking for their playoff push, this is your team. You don’t have to worry about the Giants putting up a high PA but with how good the Chargers are on that side of the ball, you know the Giants are going to be forced to go that route. With the newly crowned worst pass blocking line in the NFL by PFF ratings, the Chargers should have a similar result to last week when they recorded six sacks against a hapless Bengals line. Oh, and I saved the best for last. Daniel Jones will likely not play this week. But wait, there’s more! Mike Glennon likely will not play this week. Who will play, you ask? That would be Jake Fromm making his first career start after being signed by the Giants last week off of Buffalo’s practice squad. This will be a rough watch for Giants fans.

New Orleans Saints

Opponent: @ New York Jets

DraftKings: $3600

FanDuel: $5000

This one is probably self-explanatory but if the Jets are playing, get the defense opposing them. I guess you could just say if a Jersey team is playing, but eh, we covered that. The Saints were in their contest with the Cowboys for almost the entire game and that was with a Taysom Hill that couldn’t throw. Well, I mean because he was injured so worse than usual I guess? Despite everything, they still managed to score positive points and now with 10 days of rest, they get the Jets and their mistake-riddled team without Corey Davis and Michael Carter. This could be a grind it out type of game for the Saints and leaning on the defense should provide a lot of scoring opportunity. I would hesitate to play them in DFS because of the options around them and their own questions at QB, but they are a solid seasonal top 12 defense with a sub 50% roster rate.

Seattle Seahawks

Opponent: @ Houston Texans

DraftKings: $3100

FanDuel: $4500

The Seahawks aren’t exactly the most impressive defensive unit, but the same could be said for the Texans offense which is abysmal with Davis Mills under center. It’s hard to blame him as a rookie with the worst talent in football around him and a shaky coaching staff, but we don’t need to place blame. We just need to start a defense against them and see if the Texans can beat the over of 0.5 TDs. Seattle’s defense has greatly improved over the past six weeks with four or more games of seven points including a stat sheet stuffer against the 49ers. Hard to not see them as chalky playing the Texans but a good cash game choice that may have a slightly lower ownership than the Panthers or Saints.

Carolina Panthers

Opponent: vs Atlanta Falcons

DraftKings: $2800

FanDuel: $4800

The Falcons are now the premier opponent for DST’s everywhere so get your lock in now! For anyone that has followed this article this year, you know that Carolina has been my favorite defense this year and despite some weeks of being just unplayable, they are still a top 10 defense that was most likely free to start the year and have been widely available whenever you need a spot start. This week is no different as they sport a 44% roster percentage in ESPN leagues and are $1500 less than the Chargers this week. The Falcons OLine is a sieve and poor Matt Ryan has gotten kicked around all year. With playmakers on the line and in the secondary, this should be another top 10 week for Carolina.
