Carolina Panthers

Quarterback:

  • Kyle Allen (Sit)

Kyle Allen has been winning some games for the Panthers but his fantasy output has been mediocre. Allen isn’t worth your consideration unless you play in deep, two-quarterback leagues. In his six games this year, Allen has only scored more than 17.5 fantasy points once. The Packers are allowing 14.3 points to opposing quarterbacks so far this year. This should be an easy sit in average leagues.

Running Backs:

  • Christian McCaffrey (Start/ RB1)

What can be said about Christian McCaffrey that hasn’t already been said? The guy is a stud, and you would be crazy to bench him. CMC is the overall RB1 so far this year and is nearly 40 fantasy points ahead of second place. The Packers are still bottom-10 in rushing yards allowed per game. McCaffrey should have no trouble continuing his elite production this week.

Wide Receivers/ Tight Ends:

  • DJ Moore (Start/ WR2)
  • Curtis Samuel (boom-or-bust flex)
  • Greg Olsen (TE2)

With 9 or 10 targets in each of his last three games, DJ Moore has had an encouraging target share. He’s also been consistently putting up WR2 numbers (except against the 49ers which are forgivable) all without a touchdown since Week 3. Moore should be capable of WR2 production again if the targets continue to come his way. Curtis Samuel is looking pretty “boom or bust” so far this year. He has either put up a dud or a WR2 performance or better in every single game this season. There’s pretty much no in-between. You’re mainly hoping that Samuel hits on a big play or gets a touchdown, but that shouldn’t be too hard against a middling Packers pass defense. Lastly, Greg Olsen simply isn’t getting enough work to trust him in fantasy lineups. The veteran tight end started the year looking great but has struggled since Allen took over at QB. That being said, this year is another wasteland for fantasy tight ends and Olsen is still technically a TE1 on the season even if he isn’t a sexy option.

Green Bay Packers

Quarterback:

  • Aaron Rodgers (Start/ QB1)

After playing lights-out for a few weeks, the Chargers brought Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ offense back down to reality last week. The Packers offense struggled to get anything going and Rodgers only totaled 12 fantasy points. This matchup should offer plenty of bounce-back potential for Rodgers. The Panthers just let Ryan Tannehill throw for more than 300 yards last week. Be that as it may, the Panthers are still ranked top-10 in passing yards allowed per game and only allow 15.2 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. I believe Rodgers should be capable of returning to QB1 territory this week, but I’m not expecting a huge performance.

Running Backs:

  • Aaron Jones (Start/ RB1)
  • Jamaal Williams (Start/ Flex with RB2 upside)

Plenty of fantasy owners are likely stressing over Aaron Jones and wondering how Jamaal Williams did so much better last week. This sort of thing was bound to happen again. This is very much a two-headed backfield and it’s looking like Williams should be a reliable flex play for the rest of the season, especially in PPR formats. Be that as it may, Jones is still the guy to own in this backfield and you can’t knock one bad performance especially when the Packers’ entire offense had trouble heating up last week. Carolina is bottom-seven in rushing yards allowed per game meaning this should be a nice bounce-back opportunity for Jones.

Wide Receivers/ Tight Ends:

  • Davante Adams (Start/ WR2)
  • Allen Lazard (Sit)
  • Jimmy Graham (TE2)
  • Geronimo Allison (Sit)
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Sit)

Many fantasy players were excited for the return of Davante Adams last week, but the Packers just couldn’t find a groove and Adams finished with a lackluster 11 fantasy points. The Panthers’ secondary is top-10 in passing yards allowed per game. I believe the Packers will try to get their first option involved early and often but I’m limiting my expectations given the matchup. Allen Lazard has not put up an impressive fantasy stat line for three weeks and likely will not reach fantasy relevance again without a touchdown. He’s going to be tough to trust on a week-to-week basis. Speaking of touchdown-dependent players, Jimmy Graham is another player who will be tough to trust. If I’m not mistaken, Graham has the LOWEST yards after the catch in the league this year. If you’re starting him, you’re praying for a touchdown. Also, Geronimo Allison and Marquez Valdes-Scantling both aren’t getting enough targets to trust in fantasy lineups.

I’m faced with a must-win against the top team this week (non-PPR, no flex, start 3WR) – would I be crazy to start Jacobs over Saquon and gamble on a higher ceiling? My other RB is Cook.

I’m having a hard time deciding on my flex and QB this week.

    For the flex It’s between
Chris Carson, Darren Waller, Allen Robinson or John brown.

QB is either Stafford or Josh Allen

  3. Scott says:

You mentioned Curtis Samuel, Larry Fitz, and Brieda all as starters.

I’m in a 12 team PPR league with 2 flex spots. If you had to choose 2, who would you roll with?
