Kickoff: Sunday, October 6th at 1:00 pm EST

Location: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA

Betting Odds: PHI -6.5 via Oddsshark

Network: CBS

Sleeper Spotlight: Ty Montgomery

New York Jets

Quarterbacks:

  • Luke Falk (Sit)
  • Sam Darnold* (Sit)

The Jets are off their early bye, but it does not necessarily mean they are at full strength. Quinnen Williams and Demaryius Thomas are trending towards returning to practice this week, but Jordan Jenkins, C.J. Mosley, and most important Sam Darnold are up in the air.

Darnold got the go-ahead Monday to participate in non-contact drills. He is allowed to throw, but he still cannot lift. This is not the news the team was hoping for, and it does not appear promising for him to return to action this week against the Eagles. With that said, you don’t have to think twice about this one; do not start Luke Falk. If Darnold is somehow cleared to play, you still do not start him either (hence the asterisk).

Running Backs:

  • Le’Veon Bell (Start/RB2)
  • Ty Montgomery (Start/FLEX)

No matter who is in at QB, look for another high-volume week for Le’Veon Bell. Adam Gase will continue to rely heavily on Bell to move the needle on offense, because quite frankly, Falk has not shown he can.

My sleeper for this game is Ty Montgomery. He had a strong summer and preseason presence – albeit with Darnold – but as much as Bell will be used, he can’t be the only option. I’m looking for Montgomery to be involved more in the game plan not only this week but the rest of the season.

Wide Receivers/Tight End:

  • Robby Anderson (Start/FLEX)
  • Jamison Crowder (Sit)
  • Demaryius Thomas (Sit)

Similar to Montgomery, I may be a bit bold suggesting to flex Robby Anderson, but my basis falls on the fact that he is the defunct WR1 for the Jets. Gase needs to get him going, no matter his quarterback. The same can be said for Jamison Crowder, though I just have a belief of it being a bigger game for Anderson this week against a banged-up Eagles secondary. Thomas is not on the start-him radar at this time.

Philadelphia Eagles

Quarterback:

  • Carson Wentz (Start/QB2)

As banged up as the Philly secondary may be, the Jets have major issues of their own. Their CB room isn’t a great unit by any stretch, and are beatable deep. I would fire up Carson Wentz with confidence, especially if he has DeSean Jackson back.

Running Backs:

  • Miles Sanders (Start/FLEX)
  • Jordan Howard (Start/FLEX)

Jordan Howard had himself a game last week against the Packers; three total scores (two on the ground and one through the air), 87 rushing yards on 15 carries, and three receptions for 28 yards. He’s more than likely available to grab off waivers, and if you are fortunate to add him, I would start him. The same goes for Miles Sanders, who ran for 72 yards on 11 carries vs Green Bay.

It is important to note that the Jets are fairly decent against the run, which is why both Philly’s backs are getting flex consideration from me (and not higher in the pecking order).

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends:

  • Alshon Jeffery (Start/WR2 or WR3)
  • DeSean Jackson (Start/WR3 or FLEX)
  • Nelson Agholor (FLEX if you must)

As mentioned, the Jets secondary is one of the weaker points to their defense. With some extra rest since his last game, Alshon Jeffery is poised to have another productive showing. If Jackson is in, he has some deep-threat potential. If he sits, consider Nelson Agholor a flex option at best. I thought about adding Mack Hollins into the fold, but I don’t see him making much of an impact in this offense at this present time.

Would you start Brisset over Cousins?

Ertz a Start for the Eagles? Don’t see him either way

Sounds like a salty Falcons fan with that Patriots jab. Word of advice, it doesn’t look good on you to be putting your personal feelings into these columns. It just makes you come off as a homer.

Yeah that hit on Allen wasnt dirty at all. Allens momentum was going foward and could have picked up the first down without the second hit. Also he isnt defenseless if he takes off and runs. Rbs get hit like that all the time.
