Every week we will bring you our advice on which signal-callers have the potential to help your fantasy teams win. We will look at the previous weeks’ performances, the quarterbacks’ supporting cast, the matchup, and smart statistical insights to offer you the clearest picture of which QB to pick up from your waiver wire.
A tough week in terms of fantasy quarterback scoring in Week 6 saw just seven QBs amass 20 fantasy points on more in Yahoo! leagues. Remarkably, four of those were under 70% rostered – Matt Ryan, Teddy Bridgewater, Marcus Mariota, and Trevor Lawrence. Unfortunately for us, none of those were recommended streamers after they all bucked the trend and put up their best fantasy scores of the season. It was one of those unpredictably chaotic weeks.
Justin Fields (19.40 fantasy points) was the fantasy QB8 on the week so we are pretty happy with that return. Fields could have and should have had a better output with Darnell Mooney dropping a game-winning touchdown at the death. Still, after putting up his second-best rushing total of the season and continuing to make strides through the air, Fields is progressing nicely as a fantasy starter to be. Daniel Jones (13.52 fantasy points) is now on the cusp of fantasy relevance as a quarterback after impressing once again in the Giants’ comeback win over the Ravens. Jones threw two touchdowns but was limited to just six rushing yards which hurt his final fantasy score. Accustomed to seeing Jones move the ball with his legs, this result was most disappointing as he has seen plenty of opportunities so far this season, currently sitting as the third most prolific at the position in terms of rush yards.
The only disappointment was Geno Smith (11.68 fantasy points), who failed to take advantage of a plus matchup against the Cardinals and failed to throw a passing touchdown for only the second time in six games. Smith still impressed as a passer but the Seahawks settled for too many field goals and a frustrated DK Metcalf only saw two catches come his way. Geno did add six carries for 48 yards on the ground, which is promising at this stage of the season.

“Mariota Magic”
Marcus Mariota, Falcons at Bengals
You cannot ignore the way Marcus Mariota is leading his team at the moment. He was effortlessly brilliant in the Falcons’ demolition of the 49ers in Week 6, posting the fifth-best fantasy performance with 24.16 fantasy points. It was a huge omission from our streaming options last week but we are not going to make the same mistake with Mariota going up against Joe Burrow and the Bengals in what should be an exciting game.
Mariota’s pure dual-threat potential is the type of upside we are looking for in a bye week. He has at least 15 fantasy points in five of the six games he has started in 2022 and he has the full command and confidence of Arthur Smith‘s offense. We are just looking for that magic sprinkle to hit 20 fantasy points in Week 7.

“Mr. Jones and me, looked into the future”
Daniel Jones, Giants at Jaguars
After an efficient but unspectacular performance in the Giants’ outstanding win over the Ravens to move them to 5-1, confidence is high amongst Daniel Jones and this exciting young Giants roster. Jones was smooth in completing 19 of 27 pass attempts for 173 yards and two touchdowns. His only limitation was that he didn’t really impact the game with his legs. That should change this week against a lackluster Jaguars defense that is sitting on and around average. Jones has huge upside, and we are banking on that this week.

“Tua Strikes Back”
Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins vs. Steelers
There is a slight risk with Tua Tagovailoa coming off the concussion issues suffered over the spate of two weeks, but we cannot forget how explosive this offense can be with Tua under center. Even in last week’s contest against the Vikings, Skylar Thompson and Teddy Bridgewater combined for over 450 yards of offense, with 385 passing yards the spicy factor. Tua should be able to step back in and be an immediate fantasy stud against a struggling Steelers team on both sides of the ball.

Couple of superflex issues. Fields @ NE or Zappe v Chicago? Fields, Pickett @ Miami or Heinke v GB?
Hey Chuckie, Belichick is good at taking away quarterbacks strengths so I would go Zappe if he starts. Monitor Mac Jones situation.
Pickett at Miami for sure if he plays but that GB defense isn’t all that so Heinke is a decent backup.
