Believe it or not, we are in month two of NFL football. While that means it’s chili weather for my fellow midwesterners, it also means bye weeks have arrived. This, of course, complicates things in terms of setting your lineups and finding the optimal plays for your rosters. It also means that some of your sneakier FLEX options you’ve been stashing on your benches will have their time to shine while your studs rest up to return to action. The teams on bye in Week 6 are listed below for you:
- Kansas City Chiefs.
- Los Angeles Rams.
- Miami Dolphins.
- Minnesota Vikings.
Let’s take some time to dive into the most relevant news and notes from around the league before Week 6!
- Travis Etienne is dealing with a shoulder injury that limited his snaps in last week’s performance. The more concerning thing is that he has been outplayed by second-year back Tank Bigsby. I think we would be getting ahead of ourselves if we think Bigsby is going to outright take this job, but he is averaging over 8.0 yards per carry this season. Etienne should continue to lead the way as the passing down back, but I would not be surprised to see Bigsby start to eat more and more into Etienne’s early down usage. Bigsby finished last week as the RB1 overall with only 40% of the snaps and 14 touches. This week, the Jags face a Bears team that has been in the bottom third in the league against the run. Etienne should have room to run, but for the first time all season, Bigsby ranks higher (RB15 vs. Etienne RB22).
- Caleb Williams has taken advantage of a soft schedule the last two weeks (something we have been pointing to since Week 1). His strong schedule continues for the next few weeks, and in Week 6, he gets to face the hapless Jaguars. The Jags have allowed the most points to opposing quarterbacks this season, which is the reason that Williams finds himself smack dab in the middle of QB1 territory. He has passed for 1,091 yards and five touchdowns so far this season, with two games over 300 yards and two games with multiple touchdowns. The future is bright in the Windy City.
Without further ado, here are my updated FLEX rankings for Week 6!
