The List: Ranking Each Position for Week 1

Erik Smith releases his PPR fantasy football rankings for Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season.

Week 1 is here, and that means an abrupt and awkward transition from season-long draft rankings to weekly rankings, two things that require totally different thinking. For Week 1, however, we are still flying relatively blind. We’ve yet to get a real look at new coaches, play-callers, relocated quarterbacks, and rookie skill players, making the opening week’s projections different from the rest. Stick with your beliefs that you’ve held onto all preseason, as trying to predict wide receiver/cornerback matchups and offensive gameplans can be nearly impossible in the opener.

We can be fairly certain, however, that we have a fun one in Tennessee, as Kyler Murray and the Cardinals face off against Derrick Henry and the Titans. Will the Cardinals’ offense look more like the one from the first half of the season before Murray’s injury? Will Julio Jones be an asset for real-life and fantasy purposes starting in Week 1, or will it take some time for him to settle in to a new team? Can anyone on Arizona tackle A.J. Brown? This is just one of the many matchups that I can’t wait to see, football is back!
