- In an odd twist, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk managers should closely monitor the health of running back Elijah Mitchell heading into Week 12. With Mitchell out last week, Samuel was used as a running back, rushing eight times for 79 yards, yet only caught one pass on two targets. He was still the WR19 in PPR leagues, but we want him catching the ball, not rushing it, and if Mitchell misses again we will need to lower expectations. Because of this odd situation, Aiyuk found himself as the de facto WR1 in San Francisco, racking up seven catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. He’s more of a WR3 this week if Mitchell plays, but closer to a high-end WR2 if Mitchell sits out again.
- Seattle’s offense looks bad, but they do face a Washington defense that has surrendered the second-most PPR points to the receiver position in 2021. I don’t blame you if you lack the conviction to play D.K. Metcalf or Tyler Lockett if you have a loaded roster, but the big play upside is still there, and I’ll be rolling them out in my lineups for at least one more week.
- Kadarius Toney needs to stay healthy, but otherwise, the volume has been good at times in his rookie year. Last week’s 12 targets were super encouraging, and he now has nine or more targets in three of eight games played. There may be more growing pains, but I like him as a WR2/3 against Philadelphia.
