As Dalvin Cook, Christian McCaffrey, D’Andre Swift, and other starting running backs go down to injury, new fantasy stars emerge from the aftermath, and agile fantasy managers are handsomely rewarded. Alexander Mattison finds himself set to benefit from a cake matchup against the Lions in Week 13, while McCaffrey managers will need to wait through the bye to see how the Carolina backfield shakes out in his absence. One thing we do know is that injuries down the home stretch of the season will shape fantasy championships, while also sealing the fates of the basement dwellers already looking ahead to next year’s drafts.
