What We Saw: Preseason Week 1 2018

We watched every Preseason Game from Week 1 and here is what we saw for all fantasy relevant players.

Panthers vs. Bills

Kelvin Benjamin had himself a night for the Bills. He caught all 4 targets on the opening drive for 59 yards and a touchdown. It’s hard to tell if this was just a revenge game against his former team or if it’s the real deal. Something to keep an eye on for the rest of the preseason. Nathan Peterman and AJ McCarron both had solid nights, completing over 70% of their passes for over 110 yards each. Peterman had the lone passing touchdown and completed his first 9 passes. His only incompletion on the night was an interception. Josh Allen displayed both an incredibly strong arm and that he can be wildly inaccurate. He did get a garbage time touchdown late in the game, but otherwise he looks to be behind the other two in terms of starting potential. The quarterback situation in Buffalo is frustrating for fantasy owners. As it stands now, there really isn’t a quarterback to own in redraft leagues in Buffalo.

The Bills didn’t have much of a run game with LeSean McCoy not playing and Chris Ivory getting a whopping single carry. Wide receivers Corey Coleman and Zay Jones both did not participate in this game.

For the Panthers, Christian McCaffrey continues to look like a PPR monster. He caught 2 passes for 29 yards and also ran in a touchdown in the first quarter. Cam Newton continues to show trust in the young running back which helps warrant McCaffrey’s early draft position. Speaking of Cam, he looked average. Not a great game but it won’t do much to change his fantasy outlook. His first drive was quickly over, so he got a second drive that led to the McCaffrey rushing touchdown. One player that might move up some boards is the dynamic receiver, D.J. Moore. He led the team in receiving yards, targets, and looked good doing it. He made defenders look silly as they tried to tackle him on a short dump pass that he took for 15 yards. He also took in a long pass down the field for about 30 yards.

Running back C.J. Anderson made an appearance, carrying the ball 4 times and getting a rushing touchdown. He’s definitely the handcuff to McCaffrey, but both running backs will serve different roles on this roster. Greg Olsen didn’t stick around long, garnering a single target with zero receptions.

If you count that INT as a knock against Dalton I can’t take seriously that you actually watched the game.

If you’re not taking Saquon or Odell in the first round id like to be in your league.

I agree with a lot of Mr Bevins assessments.. I liked how Hill looked, and Webb deserves to be watched closely…McCoy also looked good
