Things look a little different around here this season.
Since the beginning of QB List, What We Saw has been the backbone of our fantasy football coverage: a game‑by‑game deep dive built on sharp eyes, smart context, and analysis that went beyond the box score. This season, we’re evolving that tradition.
We’ve consolidated our team and rebuilt the format from the ground up, shifting from game‑assigned writers to position‑focused analysts who track every player across every matchup. The goal is simple: deliver the same level of detail, nuance, and on‑field insight you’ve come to expect, but in a structure that’s clearer, more actionable, and easier to use for fantasy decision‑making.
The lens has changed, but the depth of the analysis has not. Welcome to the new era of our flagship fantasy column. Let’s get into what happened this week across the NFL, starting with our featured player of the week: Caleb Williams.
Where there’s a Williams, there’s a Way
“You’ve got a great defense,” said Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams to Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales after hanging a hefty 59 points on them in the highest-scoring Week One game in NFL history. Yeah, okay, Caleb.

Williams led the Bears to an historic offensive performance, finishing with two rushing scores and two more through the air. Williams joined ELITE fantasy company with his Week One performance while his team rushed for six touchdowns.
Per NFL: “(Caleb) Williams is the fourth quarterback in NFL history with at least 250 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, two touchdown passes, two rushing touchdowns and a passer rating of 120-or-higher in a game.”
He joins Josh Allen, Cam Newton and Michael Vick.

Williams was one of many outstanding fantasy performances that occurred in a Week One that exceeded a lot of expectations. The entire Bears offense at every position, running backs and pass-catchers alike – not you, Colston Loveland – were outstanding from a fantasy perspective while both David Montgomery and Derrick Henry looked amazing in their season debuts as well. Christian Watson shined despite the Packers melting down almost as bad as they did to end last season, while the ultra-hyped Chargers offense looked as confused as most reporters do during Mike McDaniel’s press conferences.
It was an amazing start to the 2026 NFL season, and we’re so glad to be back. Here’s what we saw!
