This week felt weird from the first snaps of Sunday morning, and continued to be weird through most of the day. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers earned a 16-0 victory without completing a single pass, the Tennessee Titans’ offense posted an astounding 36 points despite falling overtime to the Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson survived an entire snap before heading back to injured status, and I’m not even sure if his 0.0 points was the lowest-scoring quarterback total on the slate or not!
At least some things remained the same from week to week: Brock Bowers is still the elite fantasy tight end that everyone knew he would be, Josh Allen continues to find the end zone and the Dallas Cowboys keep discovering new ways to lose football games. And we can’t forget this week’s cover athlete Joe Burrow’s incredible performance!
Bengals in JOE-vertime
Burrow finished with six total touchdowns, including a rushing score in overtime, and the Bengals needed all of them to earn the victory over the visiting Titans. Trailing, 13-0, for the second-consecutive week, Burrow and the Bengals made in-game adjustments to get the offense going and found a way to answer every haymaker that Cam Ward and the Titans threw. An elite talent in his own right, it certainly helps that Burrow has two top-tier wide receivers on the outside and a perfectly capable running back and (dare I say it) pass-catching tight end or two as well. With nearly 40 fantasy points (and maybe more in some scoring formats), Burrow was the Fantasy MVP of Week 8.
