What We Saw: Week 12

Is Cordarrelle Patterson the best waiver wire find of the year? Probably.

If you told me before the season that Cordarrelle Patterson would be the key to the Falcons’ offense and that they’d still be in the playoff hunt after Week 12, I’d tell you you’re crazy and ask you to slip me some of whatever you’re smoking. Yet, here we are. Despite being banged up, Patterson led the charge on the ground en route to a victory over Jacksonville that leaves the Falcons, yes, the Falcons, at 5-6. With matchups remaining against Tampa Bay, San Francisco, and Buffalo, playoff contention won’t last much longer as Atlanta will likely lose 10 games.

Elsewhere in the NFC South, Leonard Fournette flashed shades of Playoff Lenny with four TDs in one heck of a game against the surging Colts. I think most of us expected the big game on the ground to come from Jonathan Taylor on the other sideline, but that simply wasn’t the case. In Miami, the Panthers lost big to the Dolphins and Cam Newton looked like a guy who has spent most of the season at home watching games on the big screen. For anyone who rolled with him this week in their fantasy lineups, I am so, so sorry.
