What We Saw: Week 8

The What We Saw Team recaps all of the Sunday action from Week 8 of the 2023 NFL season

Will Levis and DeAndre Hopkins woke up the Titans’ offense in a way that nobody expected on Sunday, exploding for three touchdowns together against a surprisingly stout Atlanta defense, doing so in the throwback Houston Oilers jerseys that absolutely popped, making their great performances even more visually appealing. If this result was the punishment Arthur Smith receives after last weekend’s Bijan Robinson debacle, well then…we’re satisfied.

Meanwhile, A.J. Brown broke Calvin Johnson‘s NFL record by notching his sixth consecutive game with 125 or more receiving yards as he and Jalen Hurts led the Philadelphia Eagles to victory over the Washington Commanders; the Eagles now boast the best record in the NFL. Not to be outdone, in a losing effort, Christian McCaffrey scored a touchdown (two of them, in fact) in his 17th-straight NFL game. McCaffrey’s feat will be difficult for anyone to match in the coming decades.

Unfortunately, not all of the news was great. The Minnesota Vikings are bracing for terrible news surrounding their franchise quarterback, Kirk Cousins. Team doctors fear has torn his Achilles tendon. An upcoming MRI is expected to merely be a formality to confirm that Cousins will likely miss the remainder of the 2023 NFL season. We wish Captain Kirk a speedy recovery so that he may prosper in future seasons.
