Washington Commanders
Quarterback
Jayden Daniels: Start, QB1
The rankings of the entire Commanders team hinges on whether or not Jayden Daniels will suit up on Sunday. Of course, Daniels is coming off of a season-defining Hail Mary to earn the win against the Bears, but he was limited in Wednesday’s practice with a rib injury, so his status is worth monitoring. Assuming he suits up, he’s a weekly top-5 option at the position, thanks to his rushing upside and big-play ability. It’s worth noting the worst (full) game of his illustrious rookie season came in Week 2 against the Giants (QB18), but Daniels has grown since then and should be in all of your lineups.
Running Back
Brian Robinson Jr.: Start, RB2
Austin Ekeler: FLEX Option, RB3
Brian Robinson Jr. has a valuable role in fantasy as the lead back of a dynamic offense, but a concerning development is his passing game involvement over the last several weeks. Since Week 5, Robinson has only received one single target. That lowers his ceiling significantly in PPR leagues, but he still profiles as a solid RB2 with a good chance to find the end zone in any given week. The Giants aren’t an overly imposing matchup for running backs, so fire up BRob in your lineups this week.
While Robinson’s passing work has dwindled, Austin Ekeler‘s has remained constant, earning multiple targets in every game this season. Still, he’s yet to eclipse 13.7 PPR points in a week this season, so he’s best viewed as a low-ceiling FLEX as a player who should receive around 10 touches per game.
Wide Receiver
Terry McLaurin: Start, WR1
Noah Brown: Sit
You’re telling me you’re NOT going to start a dude nicknamed “Scary Terry” on Halloween weekend?! In all seriousness, Terry McLaurin is in the midst of a career year with Jayden Daniels at the helm and currently sits at 4th in the league with 579 receiving yards. He should be able to feast on the outside against the likes of Nick McCloud and Deonte Banks and has both a strong floor and ceiling in this week’s matchup. He’s on the WR 1/2 borderline for me this week and gets a slight boost thanks to the Halloween theme. Meanwhile, Noah Brown gets a shoutout for pulling in last week’s Hail Mary, but we know he’s not a reliable fantasy option at this point, nor are any of the other Washington receivers.
Tight End
Zach Ertz: Streaming Option
Zach Ertz will be living somewhere between TE14 and TE18 in our rankings for most of the season, making him a decent streaming option if your starter is on bye, but he’s not someone you’d like to count on week-to-week. Ertz did see season-highs in targets and receptions against the Bears last week, but there’s no reason to believe that trend should continue. Leave him on your bench if you can, otherwise cross your fingers and hope he finds the end zone.
New York Giants
Quarterback
Daniel Jones: Sit
Daniel Jones is the Yin to Jayden Daniels’ Yang this week. While Jones is a clear “Sit” recommendation after posting three straight games scoring fewer than 13 points, Jones’ best game of the season came in Week 2 against the Commanders, when he finished as QB6. Dan Quinn’s defense has tightened things up since then and has done well in containing players such as Caleb Williams and Kyler Murray over the last month+ of games. Danny Dimes is a back-end QB2 for Superflex leagues at best.
Running Back
Tyrone Tracy Jr.: Start, RB2**
Devin Singletary: Sit
Week 8 displayed a complete takeover of the Giants’ backfield by Purdue product Tyrone Tracy Jr., who gashed the Steelers on the ground for 145 yards and a score. It was Tracy’s second 100-yard performance on the season, but it left a sour taste in the mouths of fantasy managers as he left the game with a concussion. Ughhh. Playing on Monday in Week 8, Tracy will have a shortened week to clear concussion protocol and get game-ready for a matchup with the Commanders, but if he suits up, he should be treated as a rock-solid RB2 thanks to the toughness and volume he’s shown recently.
If Tracy is unable to play, Devin Singletary will resume his role as the lead back for the Giants. Singletary has looked gassed over the past month and would be an ill-advised FLEX play at best if he operates as the RB1 for New York. If Tracy does play, Singletary is an easy sit.
Wide Receiver
Malik Nabers: Start, WR1
Wan’Dale Robinson: FLEX Option, WR4
Despite the struggles of Daniel Jones, Malik Nabers has established himself as a budding young superstar at the wide receiver position. No need to overthink this one–he should feast all over the field against a Commanders secondary that allows the eighth-most points to opposing receivers. Wan’Dale Robinson is what the kids are calling a “PPR Merchant” these days. Despite being among the top of the NFL charts in targets and receptions, he’s near the bottom in aDOT and yards per reception. He’s got a relatively stable floor as a short-yardage dump-off option, but the ceiling isn’t much higher than where that floor is.
Tight End
Theo Johnson: Streaming Option
Theo Johnson has at least 3 targets in three of his past four games, but he hasn’t quite reached the territory of being a reliable streamer for tight ends. If you must, he’s better than some other options out there, but it’s an incredibly risky play with a floor of 0.
