The List: Fantasy Football Rankings for Week 7

Top 150 FLEX and positional rankings for Week 7 of fantasy football!

The Giants announced on Wednesday that J.J. McCarthy would start Week 7 for New York. It’s not surprising, as he came ever so close to leading an improbable comeback against the Saints. While McCarthy deserves credit for putting up neatly 250 passing yards in about 11 minutes, he still didn’t look great overall. Similar to my criticisms of Jameis Winston, McCarthy more often than not was off target and bailed out by the talented due of Isaiah Likely and Malik Nabers making the play. McCarthy had a couple of impressive throws for sure, the touchdown pass to Likely and another  deep left to Nabers were high enough that both had to jump to make the catch, but had the ball been placed anywhere else, it would have been picked off or incomplete. I’m still in wait and see approach with McCarthy. He can put up startable fantasy numbers similar to what we’ve seen from Winston over the past few weeks. But I want to see how he does over a full game in a neutral situation, not entering when the Giants are down big with less than a quarter to go.

Aaron Rodgers has had a few three touchdown games, but I’m weary of starting him in Paris. The Saints are allowing the eight most passing yards this season, but Rodgers ranks 31st with an -0.10 EPA(Expected Points Added) per dropback. The Saints have held opponents to one passing touchdown in three of six games and only allowed more than two passing tuddys once.  Considering Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, and Josh Allen are on bye (Justin Herbert is too, but whatevs), Rodgers could be a very real decision you have to make in 1QB leagues. Look elsewhere if possible.

It was a bounce back week for Tyler Shough against the Giants, but he should bounce back to your bench in 1QB leagues against the Steelers. Pittsburgh is a bottom five fantasy matchup for quarterbacks and Should is still dealing with reportedly broken bones in his non throwing hand. He’s just outside the top 12 or so and I’d look elsewhere if possible.
