The List: Ranking Each Position for Week 5

Erik Smith releases his PPR fantasy football rankings for Week 5 of the 2021 NFL season.

QB Rankings

  • Joe Burrow makes the cover of The List not so much for his fantasy outlook, as his lack of rushing ability and the strength of the quarterback position as a whole keep him in the QB10 or lower range for the foreseeable future. But Burrow looks like a really good real-life quarterback right now, and his comeback against the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football was the first time the Bengals allowed Burrow to play as he did in 2020, with empty backfields and heavy passing volume. Burrow has done all that he can in a run-heavy offense thus far, ranking third in the league with an 8.4% touchdown rate, third overall with a 73% completion percentage, tied for fourth with nine Money Throws per FantasyData, and a relatively shocking sixth-best pressured completion percentage at 54%. Not bad for a guy coming off of a massive knee injury.

  • The fantasy QB landscape has settled in as a whole, with a clear top 12 or 14 most weeks. Players that could make a push for the top 10 rest of season that are currently outside looking in: Sam Darnold and his five rushing touchdowns, Trey Lance and his freakish athleticism, and Justin Fields and his combination of big arm and playmaking ability. This is an exciting time to watch the NFL, as we are loaded 20 or so playmakers at the most important position.
