What We Saw: Week 3

Recaps of every game on the Week 3 slate!

This was easily one of the weirdest weeks of football that I can remember. On Sunday alone, there were nine defensive or special teams touchdowns, a few blowouts, four walk-off field goals and one of the biggest upsets of the season so far. We also experienced the heartbreak of potentially losing a pair of running backs for the rest of the season – James Conner and Najee Harris – both suffered injuries that appeared to be serious.

On the bright side, the Indianapolis Colts are off to an incredible start, beginning the season 3-0 behind a resurgent Daniel “Indiana” Jones and all-pro running back Jonathan Taylor. On Sunday, Taylor ran roughshod over the Titans defense, recording his second-straight 100-yard game and three touchdowns to propel his team to a 41-20 victory.

Here’s who else had a big day in Week 3:

  • Las Vegas Raiders receiver Tre Tucker had a career-high three touchdown catches and 145 yards but it wasn’t enough to top the Commanders.
  • Jordan Mason ran for 116 and two touchdowns, and the Vikings defense whooped the Cincinnati Bengals in the shape of a 48-10 victory.
  • Jalen Hurts unleashed the Philadelphia air raid offense (and a tush push TD) to lead the Eagles to a comeback victory over the Rams.
  • Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears put on a clinic against a beleaguered Cowboys defense as the Bears beat Dallas, 31-14.
