Buffalo Bills

Quarterback

Josh Allen (Start, QB1)

Josh Allen is coming off the best game of his career in terms of passing yardage and should keep it rolling against the porous Miami Dolphins. He is going to have plenty of chances for big plays against this defense and always gives you a great floor with his rushing ability. Allen would have had an even bigger day last week if he hadn’t lost two fumbles and missed a few wide-open passes for touchdowns in the endzone. Inaccuracy is something you have to live with when starting Allen but his big arm and quick legs offer plenty of big-play potential.

Running Backs

Devin Singletary (Start, Low-end RB2), Zack Moss (Flex, RB3)

The starting job is Singletary’s to lose…for now. Devin Singletary only gained 30 yards last week on nine attempts, however, he did catch five passes for 23 yards. He out-touched Zack Moss 14-to-12 but Moss saw the goal-line carries and scored on a short catch. Until this situation becomes more clear, I still have Singletary as a back-end RB2 in a solid matchup against the Dolphins and Zack Moss as an RB3/Flex for the time being.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

Stefon Diggs (Start, Low-end WR2), John Brown(Flex, WR3), Cole Beasley(Sit, Desperation Deep-League Flex), Dawson Knox (Sit)

Stefon Diggs had a decent showing last week, reeling in eight-of-nine targets for 86 yards but John Brown outdid him with 70 yards and a touchdown on six catches. Even Cole Beasley got in on the action with four catches and 58 receiving yards. In this run-first scheme and Josh Allen’s inaccuracy, it will be hard to sustain those numbers each week with all of these guys. Brown and Diggs should continue to be viable options every week and that won’t change against this Miami team. Brown missed practice Wednesday with a foot injury, so you will need to monitor the situation until we find out if this is more than just a veteran maintenance day. If Brown were to sit, it would surely open up some looks for Diggs, making him the clear focal point of the passing game.

Miami Dolphins

Quarterback

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Sit)

There’s not much to say about this one. Fitzmagic was more Fitztragic in week one, tossing three interceptions and no scores. This Bills defense is among the best in the league. Nothing to see here…carry on.

Running Backs

Jordan Howard, Myles Gaskin, Matt Breida, (All Sits)

Again, not much to see here. The Dolphins’ offense was atrocious last week and this backfield was a jumbled mess. Myles Gaskin saw the overwhelming majority of the snaps last week and could be interesting in the right matchup, but not against a Bills defense that gave up the fourth-fewest yards per play in the league last year. Jordan Howard also looks set to steal the goalline work, further diminishing Gaskin’s value. Gaskin was the surprise bright spot in Week 1, but even he is a sit for me this week.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

DeVante Parker (Sit), Preston Williams (Sit/Desperation Deep-league flex), Mike Gesicki (Sit/TE2)

It may have just been easier to write, “sit all of the Dolphins’ offense”. Davante Parker was limited Wednesday with a hamstring injury and it is unclear if he will play. He was on the injury report last week and then left the Patriots’ game early, a concerning sign for his status this week. That would leave Preston Williams and Mike Gesicki as the only viable receiving options in the Dolphins’ passing game. Preston would then receive the Tre’ Davious White treatment and that is not a good thing for his production. If you want to play Gesicki due to the lack of options for the Dolphins, I wouldn’t blame you but don’t expect much. The Dolphins schedule finally lets up next week with a trip to Jacksonville, so maybe better days are ahead for this passing game.
