Week 6 Wide Receivers
Rome Odunze enters Week 6 as a potential sleeper. Caleb Williams is on track to return, which should strengthen the Bears’ passing offense and help Odunze get going. The Falcons allow the sixth-most receiving yards and third-most receptions to the wide receiver position. The last two times we saw Williams and Odunze together, they dealt with a blowout and a game played in heavy rain. With a potentially competitive game in Atlanta, don’t be afraid to get Odunze back into your lineups.
A deep sleeper this week for managers desperate for a FLEX option could be Raiders receiver Coby White. White has emerged as the WR2 in Las Vegas, averaging four targets per game while catching two passes for around 40 yards in the last 2 games. He has also been a red-zone threat, scoring three touchdowns inside the 20. He faces a Bills defense allowing the most fantasy points per game to wide receivers. We could see a high-scoring matchup between the Raiders and Bills, giving White an opportunity to benefit from increased passing volume.
Emeka Egbuka returns to the fade list after putting together a strong performance in Week 5. He faces a Steelers defense that has improved throughout the season and ranks inside the top 15 in most defensive categories. Jalon Daniels played decently against the Cowboys, but Pittsburgh should generate significantly more pressure on the young quarterback. The Steelers also allow the sixth-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers and have surrendered just two touchdowns to the position this season. Egbuka could struggle to repeat last week’s success in this difficult matchup.
Michael Wilson could be a fade in Week 6. While Wilson has secured the Cardinals’ WR1 job following the recent Marvin Harrison Jr. trade, he faces a difficult matchup against the Rams. Los Angeles has allowed just one receiver to surpass 50 receiving yards this season, with Khalil Shakir accomplishing that in Week 5 thanks to a big play. The Rams remain an elite defense, making Wilson a risky option for managers looking for upside. Unless he can find the end zone, potentially more than once, Wilson could finish with a disappointing fantasy performance. –Steve Pintado
Week 6 Tight Ends
Only three teams have allowed more points to opposing tight ends than the Arizona Cardinals. Even with Terrance Ferguson on IR, the Los Angeles Rams reverted to 13 personnel as a base offense for Monday Night Football. We saw passes thrown to Tyler Higbee and Davis Allen, and Colby Parkinson is also hanging around for fantasy managers in deeper leagues looking for a streaming option. The trick is predicting which of the three will be fortunate to cross the stripe. We like Higbee’s odds the best.
We’re also higher than consensus (TE16) on Colston Loveland, whom we view as a Top 10 option in a week in which Caleb Williams is expected to return. We’ll also give the nod to Dallas Goedert, a trusted security blanket for quarterback Jalen Hurts in recent years. Expect Goedert to shake off the rust from his first game back from injury last week and find the end zone against the Carolina Panthers.
Finally, our fade of the week: Pat Freiermuth. Yes, he had a big game last week…but it came against an Indianapolis Colts pass defense that has been embarrassingly horrific to date. One of the pitfalls of fantasy football is chasing points from prior weeks. That’s exactly what we’re doing if we’re scooping up Freiermuth and expecting him to produce like he did this past Sunday. Darnell Washington continues to enjoy a high rate of deployment, and wide receiver Germie Bernard is emerging as a dependable option for Aaron Rodgers. The Law of Averages does not smile upon Freiermuth in Week 6. –Drew DeLuca
