Week 5 is in the books! Hopefully, our rankings helped you decide who to start and sit, and you survived the week with a win.
Week 5 Recap
Week 5 write-ups were not kind to many of us. Carnell Tate finished with just one catch on the day as the Texans locked him down. However, I think that had more to do with Cam Ward‘s poor play. Roman Wilson suffered an injury early in the game against the Colts, but had he stayed healthy, he could have taken advantage of the matchup, as we saw Germie Bernard do.
As for our fades, Keon Coleman managed to score a touchdown but finished with just 7 receiving yards. Deebo Samuel suffered an injury in Week 5, but he wasn’t doing much even when he was on the field. Our sleepers were bad, but our fades worked out.
Week 6 Wide Receivers
Rome Odunze enters Week 6 as a potential sleeper. Caleb Williams is on track to return, which should strengthen the Bears’ passing offense and help Odunze get going. The Falcons allow the sixth-most receiving yards and third-most receptions to the wide receiver position. The last two times we saw Williams and Odunze together, they dealt with a blowout and a game played in heavy rain. With a potentially competitive game in Atlanta, don’t be afraid to get Odunze back into your lineups.
A deep sleeper this week for managers desperate for a FLEX option could be Raiders receiver Coby White. White has emerged as the WR2 in Las Vegas, averaging four targets per game while catching two passes for around 40 yards in the last 2 games. He has also been a red-zone threat, scoring three touchdowns inside the 20. He faces a Bills defense allowing the most fantasy points per game to wide receivers. We could see a high-scoring matchup between the Raiders and Bills, giving White an opportunity to benefit from increased passing volume.
Emeka Egbuka returns to the fade list after putting together a strong performance in Week 5. He faces a Steelers defense that has improved throughout the season and ranks inside the top 15 in most defensive categories. Jalon Daniels played decently against the Cowboys, but Pittsburgh should generate significantly more pressure on the young quarterback. The Steelers also allow the sixth-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers and have surrendered just two touchdowns to the position this season. Egbuka could struggle to repeat last week’s success in this difficult matchup.
Michael Wilson could be a fade in Week 6. While Wilson has secured the Cardinals’ WR1 job following the recent Marvin Harrison Jr. trade, he faces a difficult matchup against the Rams. Los Angeles has allowed just one receiver to surpass 50 receiving yards this season, with Khalil Shakir accomplishing that in Week 5 thanks to a big play. The Rams remain an elite defense, making Wilson a risky option for managers looking for upside. Unless he can find the end zone, potentially more than once, Wilson could finish with a disappointing fantasy performance. –Steve Pintado
