The List: Ranking Each Position for Week 2

Erik Smith releases his Week 2 fantasy football rankings in time for your weekly waiver decisions.

WR Notes

  • Allen Robinson is apparently asking for a trade. This one should be pretty clear by kickoff, he will either play or he won’t. He’s in a great matchup if he does lace them up for Chicago this week. Stay tuned.
  • I moved Michael Thomas way down (for his standards) to WR13 after suffering a high-ankle sprain. Word is that it isn’t a bad one, but we’ve seen this same story too many times to just blindly buy that. A high ankle sprain sapped the god-like Saquon Barkley last year, so there is no reason to think that Thomas is immune. This one will go down to kickoff, if he’s playing I would be hard-pressed to bench him, but I won’t feel great about playing him either. Emmanuel Sanders bumps up to WR31 with this news, and if Thomas were to outright miss the week, Sanders would be around WR20 potentially in a juicy matchup against the Raiders.

  • I’m all in on Marquis “Hollywood” Brown, especially in this wonderful matchup against the Texans. I’ve got him at WR14 this week, and wouldn’t be all that opposed to ranking him in the top 10. In Week 1 he looked like the explosive deep threat that he was in his rookie year, and may even be taking the next step. He could be a lethal combination with Lamar Jackson for years to come.
  • I’m not sure if Kenny Golladay will play, but he’s got a nice matchup against a Green Bay defense that just got into a shootout with the Vikings. He probably moves from WR20 to WR15 if he is a full go, but we aren’t really sure if he will even play yet. I thought wide receivers were supposed to be healthier than running backs?

  • I’m not overreacting too much to Tyler Boyd‘s dud of a Week 1, he has too solid of a track record. Christian Kirk, however, almost completely ghosted us last week and was a disappointment in the second half of last season as well. I’m holding a grudge against Kirk, and he will be sitting on my bench in the many leagues where I rostered him.
  • Courtland Sutton is a scary play coming off an injury against an elite defense (Pittsburgh), and DeVante Parker is in the same boat (Buffalo). I suppose if they are a full go you can play them, but I would be searching for viable replacements on the waivers this week.

These are helpful, but are you going to bring back the ROS rankings? Those are even more useful.

    • Erik Smith says:

It was a lot for me to pull them both off every week. I’ll try to get an update though every few weeks. I wasn’t sure how helpful they were though, good to know!
