The List: Ranking Each Position for Week 5

Erik Smith releases his Week 5 fantasy football rankings in time for your weekly waiver decisions.

WR Ranks

  • What’s that, Calvin Ridley is my WR5 this week and that’s too high because he didn’t catch a pass on Monday night? No, that didn’t happen, I don’t remember that. That couldn’t possibly happen to a player that talented on a team playing from behind the entire game. Let’s move along before I start sobbing.
  • We’ve got some injured players that you are frankly going to start if they play, but for ranking purposes, I’m exhibiting some caution. Most notably A.J. Brown (WR28), Michael Thomas (WR24), Julio Jones (WR17), and Mike Evans (WR14). Let’s cross our fingers that they can return to full health this week because the league is missing so many playmakers and it is only Week 5.

  • I’m sticking by Diontae Johnson and D.J.Moore, ranking them both as WR1’s this week. Johnson was on his way there before a concussion, and I expect him to pick up where he left off if health allows. And while Robby Anderson seems to have surpassed Moore, I still like Moore as a PPR asset, and I believe his best days are still to come. He was on his way to a big game last week before the Panthers jumped out to a big lead, and if the Falcons can at least keep some pressure on the Carolina offense, this could be the game Moore breaks out.
  • Justin Jefferson should probably be ranked higher than WR32 against this porous Seattle secondary, and I would be extremely excited to play him here. I still worry that the Minnesota passing offense is too low volume, however, so I expect a few disappearances across the course of the season.
