The List: Ranking Each Position for Week 7

Erik Smith releases his Week 7 fantasy football rankings ahead of Thursday Night Football.

QB Ranks

  • We’ve got a great selection of QBs this week, as it goes eight-deep in my “strong starter” section. This week sets up a little bit like last week, if you have players in the DET vs ATL, GB vs HOU, or SEA vs ARI matchups, your fantasy prospects look great. But we may struggle to find points in some of the other matchups across the league.
  • Matt Ryan looks like a different quarterback with Julio Jones around. That should be common sense, but as we take in so much information over the course of the season, we can lose sight of the big picture at times. As long as Jones is out there, Ryan is a solid play nearly every week.

  • This looks like a nice spot for Tom Brady against a Raiders defense allowing the 26th-most yards per attempt in the passing game. But I am beginning to worry how often we are going to see the big weeks from Brady, as the Bucs defense is just so good and the running game has been solid. I expect a lot of grind it out affairs, making this Buccaneers team the polar opposite of the Jameis Winston teams of the past. Brady will give you a solid floor, but I don’t see the ceiling with the defense playing like this.
  • Justin Herbert sets up in a great spot against a struggling Jacksonville defense, though I do worry they will focus on getting the ground game going this week. But Jacksonville does rank as the worst team in yards per attempt through the air, so Herbert should be able to make things happen on limited attempts. If Gardner Minshew can put up a fight, the ceiling is big as well, making him a solid starter this week.
