Washington Commanders
Quarterback
Sam Howell (Start, QB2)
The last we saw the Commanders in Week 13, Sam Howell attempted a season-low 23 passes, completing 12 of them for 127 yards and an interception. However, in that same game, he did score twice with his legs, adding a 2-PT conversion into the mix. Howell figures to be asked to throw more this week against a Rams defense allowing the 10th-most points to opposing QBs. Last week in the OT loss to the Ravens, Los Angeles allowed Lamar Jackson to throw for 316 yards and three touchdowns, as well as 70 yards on the ground off 11 carries. You could do worse at the QB position this week if you are planning to stream Howell.
Running Backs
Brian Robinson (Sit), Antonio Gibson (Sit), Chris Rodriguez Jr. (Sit)
In Week 13, Brian Robinson missed the entire second half against the Dolphins, having suffered a hamstring injury. He had a Week 14 BYE to nurse said injury, but it’s left to be seen whether or not he will suit up against the Rams. If he were to miss this game – and as of Wednesday he didn’t practice – that would leave the door open for Antonio Gibson and rookie Chris Rodriguez Jr. to take on more touches. Even in that scenario, both ‘backs wouldn’t be a recommended option against a Rams defense allowing an average of 12.77 fantasy points to opposing RBs per CBS Sports.
Wide Receivers/Tight End
Terry McLaurin (Sit), Jahan Dotson (Sit), Curtis Samuel (Start, FLEX), Logan Thomas (Start, TE2)
We’ve reached a moment in time in which it’s not so farfetched to go out on a limb and project Terry McLaurin as a sit. Since Week 10, he’s averaging 6.4 full-PPR points a game. He has yet to amass 100+ yards in any game on the year, and has only two touchdowns to his name. Surely if you are willing to get Terry the benefit of the doubt off namesake, he could be on the FLEX radar, but then you should ask yourself – “If I’ve made it this far without McLaurin producing, do I need him this week?”…
Jahan Dotson also has been a bit of a disappointment over the course of the year, and won’t be worthy of a spot in your lineup.
Curtis Samuel has offered more production in recent weeks – totaling 29.5 full-PPR points in the last two games – and could find himself on the FLEX radar.
Logan Thomas laid a stinker the last we saw the Commanders, but the Rams offer a potential get-right spot for him, as they are allowing the third-most post points to opposing tight ends on the year. Last week, Los Angeles allowed Isaiah Likely to catch five of seven targets for 83 yards and a touchdown.
Los Angeles Rams
Quarterbacks
Matthew Stafford (Start, QB2)
Matthew Stafford enters Week 15 with a 10:1 passing touchdown to INT ratio since Week 12, and is averaging 267 passing yards per game in that span. Look for that strong production to remain, as the Commanders are allowing the second-most points to QBs on the year.
Running Backs
Kyren Williams (Start, RB2)
Kyren Williams had a great game on the ground last week against a tough Ravens defense. He totaled 114 yards on 25 carries, but didn’t find the end zone. He’s cemented himself as the only viable Rams running back to deploy, and will once again be an RB2 against a Washington defense allowing the eighth most fantasy points on the year to opposing RBs.
Wide Receivers/Tight End
Cooper Kupp (Start, WR2), Puka Nacua (Start, WR2), Tyler Higbee (Sit), Davis Allen (Sit)
The Cooper Kupp we’ve grown to love showed up against the Ravens, catching eight of ten targets for 115 yards and a touchdown. It’s been his second score in as many weeks, and both he and Puka Nacua will remain on the high-end WR2 radar this week. Nacua has at least 80 yards, four receptions, and seven targets in a game since Week 13.
The Commanders are horrid against WRs this season, allowing the second most points to the position, but are stronger against TEs. With Tyler Higbee out last week, Davis Allen ‘took on’ the role as TE1, catching his first career touchdown; four receptions on five targets for 50 yards and the score. Higbee may be back this week off of a neck injury – and he did log a limited practice on Wednesday – but wouldn’t be a recommended start.
