Seattle Seahawks
Quarterback
Geno Smith: Streaming Option, QB2
Week 12 was certainly not Geno Smith’s best showing, but it was enough to lead the Seahawks to a 16-6 victory in a pivotal NFC West matchup. Smith completed 22 of 31 attempts for 254 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. That is now four straight games with at least one INT, and Smith enters Week 13 owning a 12:12 passing TD to interception ratio. It’s been a down season compared to his 2023, and up next is a date with the team that drafted him, the Jets. New York has their own issues lately on the defensive side of the ball, so perhaps this could be a get-right moment for Smith as the Seahawks are tied for first place in their division.
The last we saw the Jets before their BYE, they allowed Kyler Murray to complete 22 of 24 attempts for 266 yards, a touchdown through the air, and two touchdowns on the ground to add insult to injury.
Running Back
Kenneth Walker III: Start, RB2
Zach Charbonnet: Sit
Entering Week 13, Kenneth Walker III has only one 100+ yard rushing game to his name on the season, and it was in Week 1. Since then, he’s only eclipsed 70+ yards twice, with 80 yards in Week 4 against the Lions and then again in Week 9 with 83 yards against the Rams. All that said, he has put up career-bests in pass game work, racking up 36 receptions and 274 yards with a touchdown. Per FantasyData, the Jets are allowing an average of 21.7 full-PPR points to opposing RBs, so you can start Walker with confidence against a defense that last saw James Conner catch all five of his targets for 80 yards.
Zach Charbonnet has proven to only offer standalone fantasy value when Walker is out of the picture.
Wide Receiver
Jaxon Smith-Njiba: Start, WR2
DK Metcalf: Start, WR2
Tyler Lockett: Sit
Jaxon Smith-Njiba has been on fire since Week 9, totaling 23 receptions on 31 targets for 367 yards and two touchdowns in that span. Even with DK Metcalf back in the mix, JSN has been Smith’s go-to option, and look for that to continue against a burnable Jets secondary as of late; don’t let the numbers fool you that shows New York as the best defense in the league in points allowed against opposing fantasy WRs.
Metcalf returned in Week 11 from a knee injury that sidelined him for two games, and he has totaled 11 catches for 129 scoreless yards in two games. I suspect Metcalf will have better success against the Jets – especially if Sauce Ahmad Gardner has to attempt to tackle him.
It’s been a down season for Tyler Lockett, who over the years has been more consistent than not, but it’s clear he is the third in the receiving pecking order and won’t be worth starting this week.
Tight End
AJ Barner: Sit
Pharaoh Brown: Sit
With Noah Fant still missing time with a groin injury, backup TE’s AJ Barner and Pharaoh Brown have filled in but have not offered much of anything. Neither offer streaming appeal against the Jets.
New York Jets
Quarterback
Aaron Rodgers: Sit
The Jets can’t even have a quiet BYE week. Reports came out last week that suggested Aaron Rodgers intends to play in 2025, but not with the Jets, and then that Rodgers has been refusing medical scans to determine the severity of injuries he’s playing through. It’s been a nightmare season for New York, given all the offseason hype with Rodgers returning from injury, and yet Rodgers himself has been fantasy serviceable at times. Even so, with no teams on BYE across the league this week, I would be hard-pressed to give Rodgers a spot in my lineup in a single-QB league.
Running Back
Breece Hall: Start, RB1
Braelon Allen: Sit
The Jets offense should have always been Breece Hall first. When Hall gets the ball, good things tend to happen. The issue has been quite literally giving him the ball. Since Week 9, he’s averaged only 13.6 carries per game, which is just way too low for a player of his caliber. The last we saw him in Week 11, he did catch all seven of his targets for 43 yards and a score, so perhaps his success will continue in that form. It’s worth noting the Seahawks just held Murray, Conner, and Trey Benson to a total of 35 yards collectively.
Braelon Allen felt like he was going to be [fantasy] relevant in this offense earlier in the season, but that thought quickly went sideways over the last two months. Perhaps his involvement will differ for the better ROS, but he’s merely worth a bench spot at this point, more so if you are a Hall owner.
Wide Receiver
Davante Adams: Start, WR2
Garrett Wilson: Start, WR2
Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson are the lone receivers worth starting out of this Jets offense, but it’s anyone’s guess who is going to have the better fantasy week. Since Week 9, Adams has been peppered with targets, totaling 31 through three games. In that same span, Wilson has 24. Rodgers’ refusal to throw down the field has hindered the true potential of both WRs and instead, they are subjected to much shorter-route targets all game long. Perhaps that changes post-BYE, but if you’ve followed the Jets closely, you know it could very well remain at the same level of stagnant. All that said, both WRs are to still be treated as WR2s until further notice.
Tight End
Tyler Conklin: Sit
It’s been a really disappointing season for Tyler Conklin. He enters Week 13 with just 252 yards on 29 receptions and two touchdowns. Since Week 9, he has totaled three receptions for 12 yards. Woof.
