Denver Broncos
Quarterback
Bo Nix: Sit
Bo Nix showed some signs of life last week but still he is far off the radar for redraft fantasy football.
Running Back
Javonte Williams: Sit
Jaleel McLaughlin: Sit
Tyler Badie: Sit
Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin are both hamstrung by Bo Nix and the Broncos’ anemic offense. Williams has been inefficient on the ground, and McLaughlin has been inconsistent and rarely used. The offense is sputtering and may benefit from Audric Estime’s return from the IR in a few weeks. If you’re starting either back, it’s Williams, but I also wouldn’t fault you for dropping Williams. That is the current state of the Broncos run game. If you play in deep leagues and have a spot, throw Tyler Badie on your bench and see if he earns some more reps this week.
Wide Receiver
Courtland Sutton: Sit
Courtland Sutton’s targets shot back up after a down in Week 2. He saw 11 targets and had the best game of his season. Still, there is not much you can trust out of Denver for fantasy football purposes. Keep Sutton on your bench for now, especially in Week 4, when he will face Sauce Gardner and the Jets’ prolific secondary.
Tight End
Greg Dulcich: Sit
Greg Dulcich’s targets dropped from eight to zero from Week 2 to Week 3. At this point, his ceiling is a middling TE2, so he can be dropped.
New York Jets
Quarterback
Aaron Rodgers: Sit, QB2
Aaron Rodgers showed glimpses of his former glory in Week 3. He threw the ball 35 times in this one, allowing him to finally eclipse the 200-yard mark (281). He may be starting to find a groove, but the sledding does not get that much easier, as his next five games all present difficult matchups. Rodgers will remain a mid- to low-end QB2 for fantasy football until we see that he is able to compete like he did last week on a regular basis.
Running Back
Breece Hall: Start, RB1
Braelon Allen: FLEX Option
Breece Hall continues to lead the way as far as running back touches, but he is not quite the workhorse we expected in the past two weeks with the emergence of rookie fourth-rounder Braelon Allen. Allen has been a weapon on the ground and through the air in a Hall-lite-like performance this season. He will never get the majority of the touches, and a 50/50 split seems rather unlikely, but Allen has FLEX utility and would immediately be a top-15 running back if Hall were to miss any time. Allen, the youngest player in the NFL, has a very bright future in the league. As far as what you can expect from Hall going forward, he may not always have a clear path to being the RB1 overall, but it is still in his range of outcomes, even if he more than likely will land in the RB3-RB8 range most weeks. Both backs will benefit from facing the Broncos, who have allowed 126 rushing yards per game thus far this season.
Wide Receiver
Garrett Wilson: Start, WR1
Garrett Wilson is the only Jets pass catcher you are trusting in lineups. Don’t waste time points chasing with Allen Lazard or Mike Williams. Wilson is the only reliable option, and while he faces an elite cover corner in Patrick Surtain, he should be able to find space as an elite separator. He comes in as my WR11 in Week 4. Wilson has averaged 8.5 targets per game, and that is unlikely to change heading into Week 4. He has been on the field for nearly 100% of the Jets’ offensive snaps, and while he had his lowest yardage total of the year, he was able to score his first touchdown. If you are off to a hot start in your leagues and can handle some tough matchups in the next four weeks, you should be buying. He has an excellent second half of the fantasy season schedule, and the talent is evident.
Tight End
Tyler Conklin: Sit
Tyler Conklin can aid fantasy managers throughout the season as a viable bye week or injury fill-in at tight end. In Week 4, he has a chance to repeat his season-best performance from Week 3 for those managers who are down Engram, Njoku, or any of the other tight ends currently banged up, but if your drafted tight end is healthy, I would keep Conklin out of your lineup.
i feel like only the thursday game should be posted on thursday and the rest of the games on friday.. after this is posted there is so much more player news with practice sits etc that a lot of what youre writing is no longer valid and the opinion is void.
for example: damien pierce was limited just today. so akers should be a viable start if he doesnt play.
Hey, thanks for reading and commenting! We try to get all of our recommendations out on Thursday so that you have all that information in case you’re on the fence between a guy that plays on Thursday vs. Sunday. We don’t always have all of the information because of the timing with practice reports, but we try to update things as we get more info. As for the Texans backfield, I’m still a bit hesitant to recommend Akers, but he could have an easier time this week against the Jags than he did last week against the Vikings.
This list used to be a lot more nuanced in the past. Talking about #3 / #4 players and ranking them as such. Now it seems like every player if they’re not a #1 or #2 at their position they are simply a sit. I don’t need to know to start my top players it’s the flex ones in the middle I need a write up on. Wish this list was as thorough as years past.
Thanks for this feedback! We try and do our best to cover as many fantasy-relevant players as possible, and you can check out our list of weekly rankings to see how everyone stacks up. Is there a player or two I can help provide a more detailed breakdown of for you?
Having Anthony Richardson as a Start and Sam Darnold as a Sit is fantasy malpractice.
Hey, thanks for reading. I personally think Richardson has the higher ceiling this week with his rushing upside and Darnold has a hostile environment this week heading into Green Bay. If you personally want to see more out of Richardson before giving him the start again, I completely understand!
