Miami Dolphins
Quarterback
Snoop Huntley: Sit
There are no viable fantasy football options at Quarterback for the Dolphins as long as Tua is sidelined. Whether it’s Snoop Huntley or Skylar Thompson at the helm, you should leave these QBs on waivers.
Running Back
De’Von Achane: Start, RB1
Jaylen Wright: Sit
Raheem Mostert: Sit
De’Von Achane is the only player we can be comfortable starting in this offense while Tua Tagovailoa is out with a concussion. Achane saw 70+% of the snaps once again but was not able to do much. In Week 5, he has a much softer matchup and comes in as my RB12 on the week. The hope is that he will get on the same page with Huntley and can get more incorporated into the passing attack. If he is not able to get going through the air, he may drop even further in future weeks, as teams are focusing on stopping the run on the QB-less Dolphins.
Wide Receiver
Tyreek Hill: Start, WR2
Jaylen Waddle: FLEX Option
Sad Sigh
The Dolphins’ elite pass-catching weapons are rendered nearly useless without Tua. Hill is a very low-end WR2, and Waddle is barely a FLEX as long as Tua is out. The volume is way down, and the target quality is as bad as it gets. If you can sell Hill, you should, and Waddle is a roster clogger until further notice.
Tight End
Jonnu Smith: Sit
If the Dolphins’ stud receivers are questionable starts at best, there’s no reason Jonnu Smith should be near your lineups in Week 5. There’s a chance he catches a touchdown and delivers streaming value, but there are plenty of other options more likely to do so this week.
New England Patriots
Quarterback
Jacoby Brissett: Sit
Jacoby Brissett isn’t a starting quarterback in a 12-person fantasy football league. There is no need to expand on this one. Drake Maye could be on the horizon, though, and while the ceiling is capped, he could be serviceable for managers in need.
Running Back
Rhamondre Stevenson: Start, RB2
Antonio Gibson: Sit
Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson were in the news on Wednesday as Jerod Mayo mentioned he could look at a running back change due to Stevenson’s fumbling issues. The only problem is that fumbling is notoriously Antonio Gibson‘s greatest weakness in his career thus far. It feels like a coach trying to get his lead back’s attention. Stevenson is a mid-range RB2 this week against a Dolphins team that is giving up over 100 rushing yards per game. Gibson shouldn’t be in lineups, but if Mayo goes full old-school coach, he could have some FLEX appeal in the near future.
Wide Receiver
Sit Them All
The Patriots’ wide receivers are going to continue to be off the fantasy radar as long as Jacoby Brissett is the one under center. The offense leans heavily on Rhamondre Stevenson to move the ball downfield. You can assume this group will be off of the radar in most leagues until Drake Maye steps in. If you’re looking for stashes for when that occurs, rookie Ja’Lynn Polk and second-year wideout Demario Douglas are the names to focus on.
Tight End
Hunter Henry: Sit, TE2
There is a caveat with the Hunter Henry sit recommendation. If you are without Sam LaPorta or Dallas Goedert this week due to byes, you may have to start Henry. He just barely misses my top 15 players this week, and if you are in a bind, there are much worse options. If he had a softer matchup, he would be flirting with TE1 numbers.
