Houston Texans
Quarterback
C.J. Stroud: Start, QB1
While C.J. Stroud hasn’t gone nuclear in any games this season, he also hasn’t produced any clunkers outside of his Week 3 matchup against the Vikings. Stroud has lived in the QB7-QB16 range this season, giving him an incredibly reliable floor but an equally frustrating reliable ceiling. The addition of Joe Mixon‘s running game has meant that Stroud doesn’t need to air it out quite as much as usual, and Stroud’s lower rushing floor makes him a back-end QB1 against a top-10 fantasy defense against QBs.
Running Back
Joe Mixon: Start, RB1
Sit the Rest
The death of Joe Mixon was greatly exaggerated. In his first game action since Week 2, Mixon compiled 132 total yards and 2 touchdowns, finishing as the RB2 on the week. A workhorse role in a great offense is one of the most valuable things in fantasy football. Mixon is a must-start every week he’s active, while every other Texans RB should remain on your benches.
Wide Receiver
Stefon Diggs: Start, WR2
Tank Dell: FLEX Option, WR4
The injury to Nico Collins has opened up a window of opportunity for both Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell, who made the most of their matchup in Foxborough. Both Diggs and Dell saw strong volume from Stroud and should continue to do so while Collins is on IR. Diggs tends to line up in the slot, so it will be interesting to see how the Packers decide to employ their coverage if Jaire Alexander is healthy. While Diggs is the safer option, Dell is still a solid FLEX play that falls just outside of our WR3 ranks as our WR39 this week.
Tight End
Dalton Schultz: Start, TE1
Listing Dalton Schultz as a start feels gross, but he is our TE12 this week, meaning he’s a start recommendation by default. The reason is twofold: Schultz has seen 6 and 8 targets in the games following Collins’ injury, and the Packers are tied for the fifth-most fantasy points allowed to TEs. If there’s a game Schultz can deliver, this is certainly one of them.
Green Bay Packers
Quarterback
Jordan Love: Start, QB1
Everything Stroud can do, Jordan Love can do better — at least from a fantasy perspective. Love has only played in four games this season, but he’s yet to score lower than QB14 and has delivered two top-3 finishes. Love has a plethora of weapons at his disposal, and the Texans are tied for allowing the sixth-most points to QBs. Get him in your lineups.
Running Back
Josh Jacobs: Start, RB2
Emanuel Wilson: Sit
The usage of Josh Jacobs has been slightly frustrating in Matt Lafleur‘s offensive scheme. Jacobs has finished nearly every week as a reliable RB2, but his metrics suggest he is deserving of more lucrative fantasy production. With only one touchdown on the young season, Jacobs is due for some positive regression — but that may be difficult to find against Will Anderson and the rest of the Texans’ front seven. Jacobs is still a solid starting option, but his track record in 2024 suggests RB2 numbers as opposed to the RB1 performances you drafted him for.
Wide Receiver
Jayden Reed: Start, WR1
Christian Watson: FLEX Option, WR3
Romeo Doubs: FLEX Option, WR3
Dontayvion Wicks: Sit
We’ve gotten some clarity in terms of the Packers’ receiving core in 2024, and that clarity is that Jayden Reed is an alpha WR1. Reed is a true difference-maker in Green Bay’s offense and always finds a way to deliver, whether it be through the air or on the ground. He is a locked and loaded WR1 until further notice, even with the cornucopia of options at Jordan Love’s disposal. Speaking of those options, the next tier of players involves Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. These two players displayed their upside in Week 6, with both of them finding the end zone (Doubs doing so twice). Dontayvion Wicks failed to make the most of his opportunities in recent games and is now nursing a shoulder injury, making him an afterthought in this crowded WR room.
Tight End
Tucker Kraft: Start, TE1
Tucker Kraft had a down week in Week 6 after back-to-back weeks as a top-2 TE, but our memory isn’t that short, right? Any player with this kind of involvement in a dynamic offense deserves to be an every-week starter. The Texans may allow the fourth-fewest points to TEs, but Kraft’s after-the-catch ability and physicality mean he deserves to be in your lineups this week.
